Thanks guys for the last posts that is on topic and exactly what im looking.

Anyone know good Alejandro Jodorowsky comics ? Except Incal which i have issue 2,3.

I know his name cause of Moebius and i have seen he is famous for Sci-fi and action comics and i love those genres.

I don't like that they switched to glossy paper and Photoshop for every title. I enjoyed this series a lot (adults only). It's about guys who want to get laid and end up settling for fatties. WHO will be the real victim? It's clever, hilarious and the artwork's great. Contains some mild nudity, but the whole subject matter won't appeal to young readers anyway:

I always hated European serialised albums because the wait between releases takes forever.

Jodorowsky isn't very good writer either. You might as well read some Chuck Austen.

De Katamarom, in France known as Le Scrameustache is some really fun sci-fi stuff. The Galaxians, characters in De Katamarom. are the funniest mofos in the European comic scene if you ask me.

I liked that series too.

Yup - Metabarons and Technopriests - both of which I enjoyed much more than The Incal

Blacksad was outstanding. And didn't DC put out a few Jodorowsky trades a few years back? (Other than Metabarons). One was set in Tibet, if I recall. The other concerned revenge in Mexico. (Gee, vague enough?)

A mate of mine was always going on about Ranxerox. I read a few and found them quite enjoyable.

Yup. Son of the Gun was one. I can't remember the name of the other. I've got the first trades of each, but not read them yet.

A mate of mine was always going on about Ranxerox. I read a few and found them quite enjoyable.

I read one Ranxerox book years ago. It was okay, but a bit too much like child porn for my tastes.

I can recommend the Swedish comic Theo' Occult Curiosities it is a bit like Tintin meets Hellboy in Stockholm.

That looks fantastic! I'd love to see someone pick that up for an English Translation.

You realize that Jodorowsky is primarily known as a filmmaker?
Some of his stuff is pretty odd, but it's definitely worth taking a look at.

The White Lama and Bouncer, respectively.
Unfortunately, DC have since terminated their deal with Studio Humanoids.
That said, a lot of that stuff should still be available via Diamond.

Oh, and I definitely second (or third? fourth maybe?) the folks who recommended 'Blacksad'.
Fantastic stuff. The stories can be somewhat thin, but the art is wonderful.

I happen to like Son of the Gun, written by Jodorowsky and drawn by Georges Bess.

I'm a huge fan of the books by Phillippe Dupuy & Charles Berberian, espeically the Msr. Jean series. I have the original French editions with some translated ones.
I also love the work of Joost Swarte, whenever he puts out stuff. Another artist I happen to like a lot is Christian Hincker (Blutch). His style is so refreshing and dyanmic...a great linesman.

I know i read his wiki page but comics wise he is pretty famous.

Its very weird i have seen his books everywhere the last days. He is must be loved by swedish translators comic companies. I see his books like Bouncer,Metaborn(sp?) in places i go to buy juice or anything. Places that only have mags and his comics.

English translation of his works are in every comics,Rpg store too.

What do you guys think of Alberti, who will be doing the X-men/Spidey mini-series artwork for Marvel? Previews look tremendous for a superbook, especially Black costumed Spidey.

I read Bouncer today and it was awesome. I specially adored the art. Fit the story so well. Gritty and good looking. I hope to find more work by the artist.

Alejandro Jodorowsky's writing wasnt bad either.

Are there other newer cooler western comics ?

Also im wonder about assasin/spy comics. I love reading The Killer i wish i knew of comics.

Also can those of you who have read Humanoids english translated comic books rate them for me ? I found a store that had practicly all of them.

These are some German an Dutch comics I bought at a convention in Cologne last weekend:



"Suske en Wiske" is one of the (if not the) best-known and longest-running (63 years) Dutch comics (official site). Likewise, "Mosaik" is one of the best-known and longest-running (53 years) German comics (official site).

"Rampokan" is another Dutch comic, about the things happening in Indonesia in 1946/47, just before the conflict that would result in the independence of the then-still Dutch colony in 1948. The creator, Peter van Dongen, was there, so I got my volume 1 signed and sketched and bought this sketchbook. Here are two articles in French about the series: 01, 02.

"Biggi Spezial" is a German (or German-translated Dutch?) comic for girls from the mid-80s, which IIRC was a spin-off from girl-oriented horse-centered comic magazine "Biggi". It ran only 4 issues. It was cheap, so I took it for my box of oddities.

I recently got back into French comics, after they almost shrunk out of the German market about a decade ago with the advent of manga. Now publishing of franco-belgian stuff in Germany is up again, but it's mainly mainstream series, mostly not the kind I like to read, so I switched to buying the originals in French. I can write a bit more about the series I read and buy, if you'd like. Below are some recent buys:
