McDuffie himself already said DC was working on a Static solo until they pulled the plug. Not sure if Geoff was involved, but it seems a little odd to me that he wouldn't have done something with the character by now.
I do not doubt that editorial has something to do with but Geoff Johns wanted him for Teen Titans which he hasn't written for 3-4 years. His stories tend to follow beats he has been setting up for years and don't leave a lot of room to bring in characters who are not a part of the story.(Which is why I can understand Icon not being in New Krypton or Blitzer(sp?) not being in Flash Rebirth.

So perhaps he just haven't had the time, if so I hope he finds the time after BN because if there is one writer who can get DC to do a 180 on this, it's him.

One place I can see Static showing up is in Adventure Comics if only as part of the larger TT team.

    Blitzen.

Static and Superboy (Kon) teamed up during Worlds Collide, so something could be done with that.

Soo...Johns has enough clout to get DC to pay lots of money on lawyers to acquire license for a character, which then costs more money of course, but not enough to actually write said character. Huh?

You are assuming Geoff Johns was the sole reason for DC's acquisition. And even is DC went through all this just for Geoff Johns, that doesn't mean he would do something right away. The guy is pretty busy.

No, I'm not assuming that. I'm pointing out the inconsistency of the previous poster. I think fan demand is why the license to Static was acquired and why there are plans for that character before any other Milestone character.

Than they should have just gotten Static.

It was a package deal. Just getting Static was not an option.

'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

So it's pretty much well established here that Static (and to a lesser extent Milestone) was licensed because of "Fan Demand". It's also established that there was "No Fan Demand" for any Red Circle characters. Yet, we have Static with very little panel time in Teen Titans but Shield, Web, Inferno, &Hangman one-shots, followed by Shield & Web on-goings, followed Inferno & Hangman backups. Ok..so let me do the math:

Demanded character Static + DCU = 0 One-Shots, 0 On-goings, 0 Backups features, Very little panel time in a struggling Teen Titans book. (Not to mention the ignoring of Hardware/Icon)

    4 Non-Demanded Red Circle characters + DCU = 4 One-shots, 2 On-goings, 2 Backup features, Heavy Promotion.

We all know Red Circle is going to crash and burn. I believe the sales on the one-shots have been...pathetically low.

But what does that say about DC? All this does is alienate the fans they claim to want to attract!

Plus, Dan couldn't make grandiose but ultimately empty claims about upping the level of diversity in the DCU if he just got Static.

Where are you getting that (mis)information?

    Dwayne McDuffie says otherwise...

If we're just talking about Static, the biggest mistake is attaching the character to TT and not JSA. The Titans franchise is currently a mess.

Or better yet, they should just fix the Teen Titans and leave him there.

Teen Titans really needs to get good again. And Static doesnt really make sense in the JSA.
Oh my god, Canon! *masturbates furiously*
