    Default Dirty Deeds w/ Gambit!

    Dirty Deeds!

"Dirty Deeds" is a series of threads where a discussion can be held about the morally questionable, or outright evil acts of characters in comics. It might be a discussion about times a hero crossed a moral line they shouldn't have, or a discussion of a villain's most horrific acts in their history, but the premise remains the same.

Where possible, a poll will be included to vote upon said character's "dirtiest deed".

Please do remember that there are no wrong answers, this is all a matter of opinion. Since everyone has a different set of morals, please try and respect differences in people's own beliefs.

    Previous Dirty Deeds Features:
    #1- Dark Beast
    #2- Mastermind
    #3- Colossus
    #4- Donald Pierce
    #5- Feral
    #6- Pyro
    #7- Juggernaut
    #8- Sunfire
    #9- Havok
    #10- Emma Frost
    #11- Rogue
    #12- Sage
    #13- Spiral
    #14- Marrow
    #15- Cameron Hodge
    #16-Magik
    #17- Empath
    #18- Jean Grey
    #19- Pete Wisdom
    #20- Reverend Stryker
    #21- Sunspot
    #22- Arcade

And now, at the request of several members of the X-Forums, we’ll take a look at a long-time X-Man and former villain whose occupation literally is to break not only the law, but the eighth of the Ten Commandments! (And he’s not a big fan of the seventh one, either) That should be a tip off to the fact that this edition of Dirty Deeds is with...

    Remy LeBeau…
    Gambit!!!

So what is Gambit's Dirtiest Deed?

    - Trying to rob his own future adoptive father, Jean-Luc LeBeau? (revealed in Gambit (vol. 3) #1)

    - Charming the jewel thief Genevieve Darcenaux making her fall in love with him, and stealing the jewel known as l’Etoile du Tricherie from her? (revealed in X-Men (vol. 2) #33)

    - Choosing to save his adopted brother, Henri, and let Genevieve Darcenaux fall to her death off of Notre Dame Cathedral after Sabretooth dropped both of them off? (revealed in X-Men (vol. 2) #33)

    - Killing Julien Boudreaux on his wedding day in a duel, and when he was banished by the Thieves and Assassin’s guilds, leaving without even offering to take his new wife Bella Donna with him? (revealed in X-Men (vol. 2) #8, Gambit (vol. 3) #1, #14)

    - Double crossing Yukio on an earlier contract to steal a painting in London, turning her in to police? (revealed in Uncanny X-Men #311, Wolverine/Gambit: Victims #3)

    - Having sex with the villainous Andrea von Strucker, even getting caught in the act when her brother Andreas walked in on them? (revealed in Gambit (vol. 3) #10)

    - Beginning dating Rogue without telling her he was already married to Bella Donna? (X-Men (vol. 2) #4)

    - When confronted by Rogue about his previous employment by Mr. Sinister, only offering to let her find out the truth by absorbing the memories from him, rather than just tell her? (X-Men (vol. 2) #45)

    - Forcing Sabretooth, at the time supposedly pacified, to observe all his victims in a Danger Room scenario? (Uncanny X-Men #326)

    - Contemplating leaving Psylocke to die when she was critically injured upon his escape, just in case she had telepathically gleaned any secrets from his mind while he was comatose? (Uncanny X-Men #330)

    - Having sex with the nun, Sister Katrina? (Gambit (vol. 2) #2)

    - Beating up a dying sabertooth to enlist his help in breaking into one of sinister's bases, callously slaughtering the Marauders inside (even saying their lives don't matter), and cutting off Courier's so he could trick Sinister out of a piece of technology? (Gambit (vol. 3) #9.)

    - Blowing up a pack of his cards in Marrow’s face, critically injuring her? (X-Men (vol. 2) #88)

But Gambit is a pretty boy, so he gets a free pass.

Hey, what is this "Gambit destroying Destiny's Diaries" stuff in X-Men?? Mike Carey actually did that?

The only thing I wish was that you had separated the Genevieve incident into to parts. His seduction of her was very callous it is the lesson he learns at the end of the issue - but her death was her own stupid fault and she dragged Gambit and his brother into it because she stupidly underestimated the guy she stole the jewel from. I feel sorry for Gambit having to choose between two people to save since it was clear he would have saved them both if he could.

Genevieve is my top pick if the two were split.

Also Lili Penrose was anything but intoxicated - she admits in the series later she was very much trying to set him up (ie she was acting intoxicated). More, it's still very open as to what happened between them - yes she dropped her cloths and went after him and it's doubtful he just threw her off immediately (given hey naked woman here but he turned down naked Foxx afterall and for some reason all the X-Men were drooling over Foxx) but there was no indication he undressed and more he was in the middle of timed heist - he was trying to get rid of her fast to go steal the cards prior to the guests getting there. Being caught with a naked woman on tape certainly would easily be enough to PO Rogue.

I wanted to vote for the pancake incident, but it wasn't an option! I had to go with "other."

Yeah, total waste of food. And the nerve, obeying the matriarch of the X-Men at the time, Jean Grey-Summers!

That's like way worse than any theft, adultery, assault, looking the other way when people were murdered, assembling ethnic cleansing squads, or anything like that.

(I love that issue, though. The "breakfast" issue rules.)

You forgot my favorite. Beating up a dying sabertooth to enlist his help in breaking into one of sinister's bases, callously slaughtering the Marauders inside(even saying their lives don't matter), and cutting off his friend's finger so he could trick Sinister out of a piece of technology. All in the same issue too: Gambit vol 3 #9.

He sure did. Cannonball was crawling towards them to prevent Sinister & the Marauders from getting them in that issue, and as Scalphunter went to level his gun to shoot Sam before he could get there, Gambit blew up the diaries, which prevented Scalphunter from killing him. Gambit blamed it on Scalphunter's shot "messing up his aim".

So, it's set up to make the reader believe that Gambit:

    a) Saved Cannonball's life.
    b) Destroyed the diaries to prevent them from falling into Essex's hands.

So, I didn't vote for it.

But really, what were the diaries of Destiny there for, at this point, anyway? They'd been rendered moot by like the first year and a half of X-Treme X-Men.

Considering how much he flirted with her? Yes, yes I think he would. If she was resurrected tomorrow, he'd violate bro-code and not ask Cyclops if it was okay to nail his wife (since he's moved on to Emma).

He might even c-block Logan to do it.

But only if Rogue would never find out, or he'd tell her, "What? We were ON A BREAK, Chere!"

I would like to submit that Gambit is a masochist at heart. Between Bella Donna, Rogue, Storm, and (omg he flirted with??) Jean - he seems to gravitate towards the women who can inflict high damage.

That actually sounds like a very interesting scenario. A sure break from Rogue/Remy angst and Emma/Cyclops/Wolverine tangle.

And since his dirtiest deed is the one we don't know about, I voted other.

    Add these to the list:

    Lili Penrose- evil Sorcerer.
Andrea von Strucker- evil mutant Terrorist with obsessed incestuous brother, also descended from Nazi tyrant and baron.

Honestly, f***ing the nun seems to have been the safest of his romantic conquests, as scary as that sounds.

Frenzy: Psychotic mutant-supremacist and Magneto's Magistrate.

Chandra: Immortal mutant who's been manipulating his family into a pointless war for hundreds of years.

Hinted at with Polaris: Magneto's least stable offspring who was ranting about killing off all of humanity about that time.

It's only a matter of time before he and Ms. Sinister have a go.

Awww... I like it when he's dirty.

I must say sleeping with Andrea von Strucker then sleeping (yes at a much later point) with my Rogue is pretty puke worthy. Okay granted sleeping with Andrea is by itself horrific enough (unless you are related to her).

Also the whole "Our first, our last" bit in Antartica was kinda slimmy. Would have been better if Rogue had said it, but I'm going to choose to ignore a large majority of that arc as I was told a good Rogue fan should do.

I went with the Paris incident. That was not very nice.

I try not to dwell too much on who Gambit is and what he's done or else I fear I may not like him as much. Since he's my oldest non-real/cartoon crush I can't bear the thought.
