Ah, I understand. I actually started to really like how Blade was written by Guggenheim, but the different character interpretations I've read or seen of him never really bother me. I don't know why, so this new representation in MI:13 is much to get me to dislike it although I am shocked in how much he wants to kill Spitfire when he should know of all folks that not all vamps are evil.

I came here to show manlove for Rhodey.

But with Blade being the topic, I gots a question.
Is the canceled Blade series any good-worth getting? Its on trades and I've been flirting with the idea. I am tight with my cash meaning I am tight on what I buy.

Blade is a cool character. My first encounter with the character was with the movies, which were awesome.

Been out of touch for a while with a new job, but I just wanna chime in and say how much i'm loving seeing Blade the way he is being done now far more than how Guggenheim handled him. I can't wait to see some of the fallout to the return of all the vampires and I loved Jackie's reaction to news about her Uncle's resurrection. Blade is in good hands and i hope Cornell can get his hands on Dracula sometime soon too

Well, it's a mixed bag. I loved it along with some other people I know, but I know others who hate it. A majority of people hated it because of the art. I didn't mind the art and actually liked it a lot. I say look through the book, if the art bugs you too much, you may not want to get it. Story-wise, I loved it.

I liked the story and thought he "got" Blade pretty well. The only thing I didn't like was his retconning of Blade to having been half-vamp ALL ALONG, because nothing in the Tomb of Dracula supports that and quite a lot contradicts it. It seemed like a move calculated to make the comic character more like the movie/TV version. [But, what with Spidey now having Organic Shooters and the Blaze Ghost Rider looking like the Ketch Ghost Rider, that's the way Marvel does things now.]

That was my only real complaint - otherwise I really enjoyed the series.

Well he stabbed Spitfire the second he saw her. I'd say that falls within the boundries of his "grim mission to wipe vampires off the face of the earth".

LOL! As bad-ass as that scene is, though, do you think it makes sense with his characterization? I mean, he should know she's a part of the team and maybe he shoulda investigated a bit before doing that?

Perhaps. But, now that you mention it, I have to wonder how he knew at all. Besides, Spitfire hadn't even told the other MI:13 members, so he may have thought she had something to hide. Otherwise, logically, she'd have told them.

Besides that, he might be working under the "the only good vampire is a dead vampire" policy.

That philosophy I can understand. But he knows vamps like Hannibal King and Morbius, although Blade hates Morbius and would kill him without hesitation.

probably as for blade currently hes starting to expand in the marvel universe which is good but I feel like the writers arent using blade that well, I mean guggenheim wrote the best stories but had blade kinda weak, while cornell writes a strong blade but I dont like his dialogue, it makes him sound kind of idiotic, not the silent warrior he usually is...I Dunno when I imagine blade I imagine him silent...not "loquacious" as spitfire put it
