    Default Blade Appreciation

Well, been wanting to do this for such a long while now but I just thought "eh, what the heck." So here it is. Blade is one of my absolute favorite comic characters and I feel is extremely underrated. He's such a cool and bad-ass character yet he can never seem to catch a break with his own monthlies. I think it's great that he's joining the cast of MI:13. Also, this thread is to also keep me updated on the character since I'm not really checking out much Marvel stuff as of late, but there are still characters I love and I think discussions on everyone's favorite vampire hunter should be cool, right?

I'm a Blade fan I think he is one of those great character that suffers from mishandling. When they came out with the new series a little while ago I jumped on it...and jumped right back off. I couldn't believe how badly they jacked him up and I hoped they would flush the recon. Can a good writer with a clue get a hold of Blade? And I wish they hadn't canceled the series (everything I like seems to get canceled). Especially where they canceled it. Granted Sticky Fingers started off shakey but he was getting there.

I actually was a big fan of the last ongoing. I jumped on rather late but picked up all the other issues before hand and I had such a blast reading each and every issue. I'm still grieving that it was canceled. I really enjoyed both the writing and the art, although I do know the art wasn't to everyone's taste.

I actually feel that Millar should be put on the book. I'm not a huge Millar fan but I think he'd do the book a great deal and would get enough people interested. And no one writes action scenes like he. Ennis, too, I feel would write a terrific Blade.

You might already know this but Blade is going to be in Millar's ULTIMATE AVENGERS; Millar said he's been waiting to do his version of Blade.

I really liked the first 2 blade movies, but I have not read much of Blade in comics. What would you all recommend?

The Spider-Man cartoon and the Blade movies (the first 2 anyway) made me a fan of the character. I enjoyed the last Blade series for what it was and I'm loving the fan that he's now going to be on Captain Britain and MI 13. The more Blade the better.

Thank you for this. I'm happy to hear 'bout this. But it seems the Blade story won't be until the second year of this series, but I can't wait for it. Wonder who'll be doing the art.

Well, I myself would recommend the last ongoing that Guggenheim and Chaykin were doing, but I know that gets mixed reviews. You either love it or hate it. I myself am in the former category. Also, a lot of people would recommend the issues where he appears in Tomb of Dracula. I myself also need to track those down.

As for the movies, I freakin' love the first two. But I enjoy the first one more. There's just something about it. I like the story better, the atmosphere, everything. Just a wonderfully done movie and I never get tired of watching it. So bad-ass.

The first time I discovered Blade was in a trading card. When I was little I used to collect all types of trading cards, especially comic book based. I had never heard of Blade until I got his card and I was so interested in that card and the bio on the back. I thought he was awesome but at that time I've never saw a comic or anything of him. I was in 3rd grade, if I recall. Then imagine my excitement when he guest starred on Spider-Man!

You know, there was something I didn't like too much about when Hudlin wrote Blade in Black Panther. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there were certain stuff that seemed off on him but at the same time some stuff seem to stick true to the character at the same time. Weird... but one thing is for certain, I loved the partnership showcased between Brother Voodoo and Blade and think they'd make a great buddy book or supporting cast for each other.

I tell you one thing, Brother Voo Doo need a new costume, especially the iron fist collar cape. And talk about color coordination, sheeesh. Man he better not ever team up with Deadpool because he would not hear the end of it.
