I still think there's a chance for him to have a cameo in a future Marvel film, to re-introduce him.. hmm..
They made 2 Ghost Rider films, and there's a possible Dr. Strange film in the works. If that particular corner of the MU gets fleshed out more, I definately think there's strong potential for a Blade cameo.

It's a shame the Ghost Rider film got such negative reviews (even though it did okay at the box office). Had it been as well received as some of the other marvel books, we might have gotten the Avengers treatment with the Midnight Sons. That would have been kinda cool. Though admittedly that's somewhat of an unrealistic expectation given that Midnight Sons didn't exactly set the comic book world on fire.

Ghost Rider was doomed as soon as Cage was announced to be playing Blaze. Talk about horrible casting... Blade did so well because Snipes was a badass.

you can say that again. Just hearing Nick Cage's name in a movie almost garuntees I will not pay money to see it anymore. I think the last movie of his I enjoyed was National Treasure back in 2004

this pretty much surmises: Cage's career for the last several years: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP1-o...layer_embedded

I think the only way for Blade comic(or at least a mini)series is that he has a bastard child(since kid versions of heros are in again) that he has to protect.By the way how many lovers does Eric have all i can think is spitfire?

Yeah, I was a fan back in the day.

It might have been cool if they had done a Ghost Rider, then Dr. Strange, then Blade movie... linking them all like they did with the Avenger films. But I don't think they had the same confidence in the Ghost Rider films, and that was more than justified I guess. Didn't actually see the movie myself so I'm probably not a good candidate to comment on it one way or the other... but I don't think it exactly set the world on fire even though it apparently did okay.

In a way I wonder if that's part of the problem though.

I wonder if Blade didn't do well purely because of Snipes, rather than the actual Blade character. It puts a potential question mark in the sucess of another movie, or even the comic. The TV kinda bombed... though I think the anime is pretty cool.

The Blade show didn't bomb it actually brought record ratings at the time for Spike. The network didn't want to cancel it, I just think Spike TV was still a young network, and the price it was costing to make...they just weren't able to do it. Happens all the time stuff comes up. But people were interested in Blade. Ratings wise it did very well.

Yeah Marvel has to do damage control with Vampire's. We've got too many good vampire's, and the notion vampires are people too etc. If I was taking over Blade one of the first things I would do is show that vampire's aren't human show how far from human they are. When you become a vampire you should not be the same person. You should lose your soul delight and doing wicked things. And actually show vampire's being wicked, delighting in torture ones misfortune. Don't do it hamfistedly, but its important to show when someone becomes a vampire they don't just change on a physical level, their minds change their souls change, the person they were is dead. I want to see those types of vampires again. Vampires that are actually scary. Demons personified. It wouldn't be hard to do either. Its been done before. Marvel just has to commit to it. Stop with all the twilight nonsense.

As for killing I think thats becoming more PC for heroes. Were seeing more instances of Batman killing. The Avengers killt ons of people in the movies. The new Justice League uses deadly force if the situation calls for it.

One of the problems Blade faces is now, is that thanks to stuff like the Vampire Diaries and Twilight, the audience basically views vampires as humans. I think it would be cool if marvel took almost a Blood + or Vampire Hunter D approach.

Part of the problem for making vampires scary is that they exist in the MU. On their own, vampires are pretty frightening. But in a world where gods and cosmic beings show up in New York every 12 months, they just come off being low level metahumans. Vamps sort of work better when they're sort of isolated. It's one of the reasons I think vamps and Blade sort of work better in movies and cartoons rather than the actual comics.

But realistically you HAVE to mix them vamps up with the rest of the MU just to keep some spotlight on them. If you don't occasionally mix them with the X books or in marvels events like Fear Itself, they'll just get lost in the shuffle in todays market. It's tough for a fringe corner of the MU to really survive when the market is down.

Looks like Raizo will be appearing in Hulk this week. Too bad Blade is sitting in the back seat.

someone just make a Raizo appreciation thread. I don't want him to take over this thread. He's already taking over Blade's role in the marvel universe

watching Blade on FX right now. Sometimes I forget how good the first movie really was. So innovative and action packed I loved it.

I swear if we could get a next gen video game in this vein or even an animated series. I mean I enjoyed the Blade anime, and I thought it did a admirable job for a a 12 episode 22 minute series designed to introduce newer audiences in Asia to the character. Still I wish we had more of a 20 some issue format, with improved fighting animation and some new characters.

Honestly, the Raizo talk doesn't exactly come off as appreciation in a lot of instances (though I think I threw him props somewhere in there).

I think Raizo will have a guranteed presence on this thread, because anytime he shows up a few people will essentially go "that should have been Blade."
