Yeah Marvel has to do damage control with Vampire's. We've got too many good vampire's, and the notion vampires are people too etc. If I was taking over Blade one of the first things I would do is show that vampire's aren't human show how far from human they are. When you become a vampire you should not be the same person. You should lose your soul delight and doing wicked things. And actually show vampire's being wicked, delighting in torture ones misfortune. Don't do it hamfistedly, but its important to show when someone becomes a vampire they don't just change on a physical level, their minds change their souls change, the person they were is dead. I want to see those types of vampires again. Vampires that are actually scary. Demons personified. It wouldn't be hard to do either. Its been done before. Marvel just has to commit to it. Stop with all the twilight nonsense.
As for killing I think thats becoming more PC for heroes. Were seeing more instances of Batman killing. The Avengers killt ons of people in the movies. The new Justice League uses deadly force if the situation calls for it.
One of the problems Blade faces is now, is that thanks to stuff like the Vampire Diaries and Twilight, the audience basically views vampires as humans. I think it would be cool if marvel took almost a Blood + or Vampire Hunter D approach.
