It's fun, but it's hard to ignore bad writing when it's slapping you right in the face, demanding to be mocked.

Oh, this is an easy question.

    It's because it's horribly written.

Hulk is exactly what non-comic readers think all comic books are like, and we all know how much respect the average Joe has for the comic book industry

Default Was gonna read the latest issue, but didn't, so didn't bother

Honestly, I was going to make a thread (maybe even a poll) asking why exactly people buy this book. I'm glad so many people enjoy it and support what they enjoy, and it's not like anyone will really change their positions on the title, but I'm pretty curious.

Really, almost any book Loeb writes is going to get this sort of criticism.

I think Hulk is a reasonably simple and fun enough book... though like a lot of Loebs work, it's got it's share of characterization, continuity, and power level issues.

I'm truthfully okay with a simple, action packed book like the one Loeb writes. I wish he had an editor who tweaked a few things here and there, but regardless I do see the appeal of the book even though I also see why people are so critical of it.

I agree with the opinion that the Hulk book is badly written, I dropped it after #5 because I started to have a suspicion that the Red Hulk's identity wold not be revealed in #6, and it seems that it wasn't. Yay for me. :)

Ok, imagine this: we've had Batman as a dark, brooding, cerebral character since the 70's, a characterization which has basically become the character's accepted personality. Suddenly, out of nowhere, starts a storyline, in-continuity, that features the 1950's, campy "Old chum" Batman, using his Bat-pogostick to bounce of the Joker's head. THAT'S what happened with Hulk: he was built up to have a characterization which has been acclaimed as a mature, accepted direction for the character, and out of the blue comes a campy, childish interpretation of the character we haven't seen in forever, which we thought the character had grown out of and flies in the face of the work done by the previous writers.

We really need continuity cops in the Marvel editorial staff, and badly.

You know, I actually agree with the majority and prefer the Hulk that PAD shaped and molded, and the one that Pak brought to the table.

That said, I cant say I am exceedingly angry about this regression to the Savage Incarnation. The argument could be made that this old, simple, and fun formula for the Hulk during this arc is to match up with the summer's movie, or simply to draw in newer readers, looking for an action packed, story-limited book.
    Common Sense.... Tingling!

Stan Lee wrote a Hulk that spoke in complete sentences.

Hulk has reverted to an older status quo, but not his original one.

    Default No offense to anyone

No offense to anyone but I have been a fan since the mid 60's & in my opinion this is the worst I have read!
I hated when Hulk had banners brain & was pardoned, Jones run I wont even go there but Loebs is just SHIT!
I dont know the man nor do I have a grudge against him but I wish Marvel would boot his ass off this book, pretend it never happened!
This is not Marvel mainstream, it's Marvel Adventures & an insult as far as I'm concerned Loeb has no idea where this book is headed & absolutely no respect for those of us that have followed Hulk since the begining.
The Incredible Hulk does not need to be saved by Thor or any other character nor does he need a superpowered (A-Bomb) sidekick.
Sorry if any of this offends anyone, I had alot more to add but it wouldnt be considered constructive critisism.

Dunno why anyone would buy it. If you want to follow the 'story', you can read it in less time than it takes to queue up to pay for it.
