Default DC Creators McKeever and Bedard coming to Acme Comics in Greensboro, NC!

I know I'm new here, but this is something cool that folks here need to know about.

For those that don't know me, my name is Jermaine, but my online handle has been Lord Retail for about 5 years now. I mainly keep to Jinxworld and my store's board because I know that I can only keep up with a few boards, but I've recently branched out to CBR, DCComics.com, and Geoff Johns' ComicBloc. I'm a retailer (worst kept secret ever) and have been with Acme Comics in Greensboro (est. 1983) for about 12 years now. Maybe even longer, I can't halfway remember now. When I was first getting into DC it was in the 90s (which was a good time to be new to DC if you recall) with Knightfall, Death of Superman, and everything else that was going on. And I did a ton of backtracking into most everything I could get my hands on from the past. So I'm steeped in old-timey DC.

Anyways enough about me, Acme Comics has something cool coming up in October that I hope some of you can make it out. On Saturday, October 25th, Acme will be hosting Sean McKeever and Mr. Tony Bedard, as well as the Birds of Prey inker John Floyd who actually lives very near the shop. A triple threat of DC creativeness! Its been a very long time since Acme has hosted high profile creators so we're absolutely thrilled and want to put the word out to fans. If you live in or near us, then you know its not often that creators make it to NC outside of convention season. So search your boxes for back issues (Batman Confidential Wrathchild, Teen Titans, Birds of Prey, Gotham Knights, and everything else inbetween) and come on out!

    Mark Your Calendars!

Thanks for listening to me ramble guys and for being welcoming and accommodating to me! And thanks to Sean and Tony for taking a chance on ol' Lord Retail and Acme Comics!

Hey, do I know you? Have you been to Acme before?

Yes, you need to make plans to attend!

You likely don't know me. I haven't been to Acme, instead preferring to travel to Parts Unknown, which is closer to the UNCG campus (where I am).

But I will try to attend if able!

This thing is next Saturday people! Here's some stuff we've done to get ready:

    • We've restocked everything we could get as far as trade paperbacks and issues on Sentinel, Exiles, Birds of Prey, Spider-man Loves Mary Jane, Gravity, Young Inhumans, and Teen Titans.
    • We're doing a one-day-only 40% off any DC Comics trade paperback or hardcover sale during the signing.
    • DC Comics was nice enough to send us some really cool promo items like posters, bookmarks, and buttons, many of which I'd never seen before. One particular thing is really, really cool and new and these will all be free to people who show up for as long as we have them to give.

Hopefully this will go well and we will have other cool signings in the future! Hope some of you can come out and see us! If you come from CBR make sure to introduce yourself!

I'm really looking forward to this, and to hanging out with Sean again -- he's a very cool dude. Hope to see y'all there.

We're going through our backstock right now to put together your back issues into one place so people can find them easily. I've never done anything like this before so I'm excited too!

That is right. He is a cool dude. I don't even read much of his stuff and we could still talk a fair bit about comics. That's just neat.

Anyways, it was a pleasure meeting you and Sean. And now I know the scoop on L.E.G.I.O.N.! That's neat.

I just hope I wasn't too annoying. (My last words were "going make to the dorm"--really? Ugh.)

Yes! I got to hang out with Tony and Sean all weekend and those guys are really great, down-to-Earth people. I hope that I've convinced them both to attend Heroes Con next year.

Hope you liked the shop, I know there was a lot going on so I wasn't able to talk to any one person for too long.
