Well color me dumb, but it's looking a lot like the Skrulls are gonna win at the end of Secret Invasion #8. With all of these "Villain Variant" covers this month, it's giving the impression that something takes the heroes out of action and that it'll be up to the villains to take on the Skrulls to clear them off the planet.

    Default Avengers Classic

I really liked the Avengers Classic book. Marvel hasn't listed any more issues for that title in a few months. Was it cancelled or will it be back in the future?

I believe they cancelled it at #12. It just wasn't selling that strongly.

I'm frankly suprised they don't do that more often. Solicits tend to spoil quite a bit of stuff when they're not written very carefully.

A Secret Wars 2 Omnibus? There's got to be a lot more better titles worth collecting more than Secret Wars 2.

While I'm just speculating, it appears that Carlo Paguylan will be the artist for Agents of Atlas. Caselli for Secret Warriors as well, but that was pretty heavily hinted at by Bendis for sometime.

    Only slightly related.

I was dropping off a few bags of clothes at my local Goodwill last week, when lo and behold, just laying there in the parking lot, was a perfectly fine copy of Secret Wars II #1.

I took it home and read it.

    It really wasn't that good.

Though Secret Wars 2 was a pretty horrible story, I suppose one can argue from a historical perspective it's worth collecting. I do think it's their first company wide cross over of this type.

L@@KS like all kinds of good stuff! Here are some things that caught my eye:

    1. DARK REIGN: NEW NATION --->>>>The SOUNDS like the DARK AVENGERS book that I heard about.

    2. ***** The Lady Liberators in Hulk #9! w00t I love these gals.

    3. All hail The GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #8 with Blastaar, King of the Negative Zone! ( I love this villain!)

    4. A Moon Knight 48 page special! MOON KNIGHT: SILENT KNIGHT #1
Written by Peter Milligan, penciled by Laurence Campbell, cover by Clayton Crain.

"A Christmas Dream." You've been good? Tell that to Santa. You've been naughty? Look out for Moon Knight! Christmas Eve. A time for family. A time to dream. For Moon Knight's sometime paramour Marlene it's a chance to sit by the fire and dream of a future in which her boyfriend isn't a borderline psychotic vigilante. But for Moon Knight, it's just a night like any other -- and tonight he's got his sights on a pair of hitmen who picked the wrong Santa to kill.

    5. The "NOIR" line of books!

    X-MEN NOIR #1

Written by Fred Van Lente, pencils, cover and variant cover by Dennis Calero.

"The coroner's men flipped the redheaded corpse over so Dukes and Magnus from Homicide could get a better look at her. 'Better' being a relative term in this case, with the claw marks that slashed her face into a featureless, bloody mask and turned her guts into a butcher shop explosion.

"But the tattoo -- the simple, encircled 'X' above the left shoulder blade -- remained intact, and Dukes pointed it out with the toe of his wingtip once Peter the rookie was done heaving up lunch.

    SPIDER-MAN NOIR #1

Written by David Hine and Fabrice Sapolsky, art by Carmine Di Giandomenico, cover by Patrick Zircher, variant cover by Dennis Calero.

With great power, there must also come great responsibility -- and when those in power abuse it, it's the people's responsibility to remove them. The year is 1933, and New York City is not-so-secretly run by corrupt politicians, crooked cops, big businesses...and suave gangland bosses like New York's worst, the Goblin. But when a fateful spider-bite gives the young rabble-rouser Peter Parker the power to fight the mobster who killed his Uncle Ben, will even that be enough? It's a tangled web of Great Depression pulp.

    6. 3 What If books: WHAT IF? SPIDER-MAN: BACK IN BLACK

Written by Steven Grant and C.B. Cebulski, penciled by Gus Vasquez and Patrick Spaziante, cover by Ron Garney and Marko Djurdjevic.

On a terrible day not long ago, a single bullet tore into Peter Parker's beloved Aunt May, triggering a cascade of helplessness, revenge and desperation that finally cost Peter the life he had always known and almost cost Spider-Man everything he had ever stood for. But what if the bullet had found a different target? If Spider-Man was willing to break all his rules for the woman who raised him, how far would he go for the woman he loves? "What If Mary Jane Had Been Shot Instead Of Aunt May?" Featuring Part 4 of a special five part back-up story, "What if the Runaways Became the Young Avengers?" In this issue... Enter Kang!

    WHAT IF? NEWER FANTASTIC FOUR

Written by Paul Tobin, pencils and cover by Patrick Scherberger.

The original Fantastic Four are dead, and a New Fantastic Four has taken their place! But what can the team of Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man and Wolverine do against a foe as powerful as Thanos---bearer of the Infinity Gauntlet? When it takes all the power of Iron Man's amazing new armor, all of Spider-Man's attitude, all the Hulk's brute strength, and all of Wolverine's underhanded tricks just to survive...what can the New Fantastic Four do to win? The answer lies within this cosmically power-packed issue! Featuring Part 2 of "What If the Runaways became the Young Avengers?"

WHAT IF? CAPTAIN AMERICA: FALLEN SON

Every man, woman and child in the Marvel Universe remembers where they were the day that Captain America died. But what if the event that forever changed the heart of heroics had never actually happened? And what if the hero that helped define the post-Civil War era had fallen in Cap's place? Join us for a tale of death, mourning and rebirth as we ask the question on everyone's mind: "What if Iron Man had died instead of Captain America?" Featuring Part 2 of a special five part back-up story, 'What if the Runaways Became the Young Avengers?' In this issue... Iron Lad stands revealed!

I suppose. I think there could have been a better way to do it than a $100 Omnibus.

Agreed. Why pay $100 for the Omnibus when you can probably pick up the whole original mini off of eBay for $10. Sure, you're not gonna get all of the tie-ins.....but they're not even all that necessary.
