CBR: Danielle Corsetto talks "Girls With Slingshots"
Cartoonist Danielle Corsetto talks to CBR about her webcomic "Girls With
Slingshots," the story of two girls, a bar and a talking cactus, as well as her in-
progress graphic novel, Bat Boy, drinking contests and Twitter.
Girls with Slingshots has been one of my daily web-stops for over a year now. A very funny strip that quite frequently makes me laugh out loud when reading. Now, sure that may sound like a good thing, but not when you're goofing off at work.
Of course reading this article now makes me feel ancient as I just realized that Ms. Corsetto isn't yet 30. Beginning to understand F. Murray Abraham's character in Amadeus alot better now.
During Baltimore ComCon 2007 last year, I was in the throes of trying to come up with an idea for my own new web comic. At that point, I wasn't super familiar with GWS - although I had seen her McPedro at previous conventions.
So, I asked her if she would be willing to sit down with me and allow me to absorb some of her advice. Not only was she willing to do this during the con (it was near the end of the con and she wasn't extremely busy), but she also gave me some really great advice that not only helped but also inspired me to launch Capes & Babes a month later.
Not all creators or artists are willing to do that with someone they don't know or have never heard of.
