I loved both the movie and the manga. Very violent but still very cool.
My sister and I own the whole series and the movie and the novel.
Fantastic stuff, highly recommended!

I've seen the movie. Didn't know there was a manga. I'll have to start it.
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science."
"I have often regretted my speech, but never my silence."
I read the novel, seen the movie, and now starting to read the entire manga series. Though it is very violent, it is still a very good series.
On a side note, if you enjoyed Battle Royal, then you will enjoy 72 Hours by Anthony Martson. This is, by far, the greatest piece of fanfiction I have ever come across.
Have beer, will drink!
Was originaly a novel before it was a movie also.
Keith Giffen did the transliteration, which was a blessing and a curse for the manga. It doesn't have the incredibly literaly translation that some manga does, which i guess makes it easier for western audiences to take down, and Giffen doesn't interject a lot of the humor i would normaly associate with his writing, but if you want something that's 100% true to the source, keep in mind you won't find it here.
Incredibly violent and brutal, has a bit of that weird sexuality on some of the characters, and a really high amount of sociopaths for a high school class (in all honest, i would have sent most of these kids to island to kill each other too, lotta pychos), but i didn't find it unenjoyable.
I never did finish the series, around book...10?(Maybe?) It started to slow down a bit, understandable given that half the cast was dead, but still felt kinda boring.
Nothing's gonna happen without a warning
I liked it...
But I'm one of the few people who thinks Mitsuko Souma should have been the final "enemy". I think she would have been more of a threat than the relentless killing machine that was Kazuo Kiriyama

Picked up the first 2 volumes and i have to say i havent been this into a manga for a long time . Alos think the artwork is very good and lts intresting to see the characters respective backgrounds. SPOILER Didnt expect yoshi to die so early on though , shocker.
My favorite movie of all time, but I have to say that the manga sucks somewhat. Besides Giffen's hacked up pseudo Survivor, I'm going to make this reality tv adpatation. I just think the manga is a more perverse and unecessary version of the novel and movie. Even though it's written by the writer of the book, I feel like it's almost a different person at the helm. Like they hired Howard Stern or something to do whatever he liked.
Not only that, but I find some of the drawings to be distorted and grostestque. The "humans" in this book are all bug eyed and slobbering like some one year old. Or if they're not, they look like a movie star or something. I don't hate the art necessarily. I find it to be somewhat oddly appealing. But just that the facial expressions are really over the top at times.
It's not all bad however. The translation of the manga from the book is closer than the movie... minus the Giffen adaptation. Also there's more room to tell the story and scenes. And for an alternate version of the BR story, it's cool to see. The covers are nice too. I don't know, I'm a fan of the movie first and foremost, even though I've read and own all the other versions.
The first movie is really, really good. The second one not so much. Then again I might be biased on the second one because of its anti-american stance which makes sense given the directors history as well as the fact we dropped two nukes which ended up killing a quater million Japanese citizens and were rather gleeful about it.
spoiler for the first movie:

that kid that dies at the end had a hard-on. wtf
