Captain America. Bucky Barnes has to learn how to place nice with others. What it really means to be a symbol, and how important the Avengers are to that cause.

    Thor.
He's been gone for a long time, and things have changed while he was away. I think that he saw that as he weakened ties with his team, that everything started to fray at the edges, he wants to be there to hold things together.

    The Hulk.
The monster is back, but there are few ways that he can redeem himself outside of being on the most visible hero team in the world. They are the earth's mightiest heroes, so Hulk should be there.

Hawkeye. If he can't keep them in check, who will stand up to take that role? It's time for the bowslinger to nock an arrow again.

Spider-man. Petey needs the team, more than ever before. He made a deal with the devil, and I think in the depths of his heart, he knows that he'll need good friends around when it comes time to pay the piper his due.

    The Wasp.
Janet Van Dyne will need to be there, and need to step up her game. The team will be a mess post-secret invasion, and she'll be the glue to keep it together.

    The Beast.
Hank, restored to his human appearance as an effect from events in SI, is recruited to the team after taking a leave from the X-Men. He's fun-loving and bouncing around, but his heart is very conflicted behind all that. He's never been able to keep his human appearance, and he's always worried he'll go back to being a Beast again.

    Ms. Marvel.
Humbled byt the events of SI, worried that she was manipulated, she steps away from the leadership role and becomes more dutiful as a soldier. A night out drinking with Logan reawakens her "sneaky" side, and she ends up using her black-ops skills to greater advantage.

I thought I'd do away with all the dark/new/mighty stuff and just recast a core team.

    Captain America (Barnes)
    Falcon
    Thor
    Iron Man
    Beast
    Vision
    Luke Cage
    Quicksilver
    Spider-man
    Ms. Marvel
    Pulsar
    Dr. Strange
    Hercules

13 member team with a well rounded line up. If this team can't handle it, then Earth is screwed. :P

    So much to choose from,

    Mighty:
    Hawkeye/Ronin
    Hercullese
    Vision
    Scarlet Witch
    Thor
    Ms. Marvel
    Nova
Phorton (Is that Monica's name these days?)

    New:
    Luke Cage
    Black Knight
    Quasar
Antman (Lang, who I am really hoping turns out to not be dead, but rather captured by the Skrulls and never replaced)
    The Black Widow
    Wonderman
    The Beast
    War Machine

    Dark:
    Quick Silver
    Ares
    Ironman (Iron Patriot?)
    The Submariner
    Songbird
    Wasp
    Panther
    Atlas

New Avengers- A more low-key, street level team that can still handle the occasional BIG nasty, but doesn't really look for that kind of thing.

    Captain America (Jim Barnes)
    Luke Cage
    Falcon (leader)
    Rage
    Firestar
    Black Knight
    Iron Fist
    Arachne

Add Spider-Man if you REALLY have to.

Mighty Avengers-Government stooges, like they are now

    Iron Man
    Ms Marvel
    Wasp (leader)
    Justice
    Photon
    Ares
    Spider Woman
    Stature
    Tigra
    US Agent
    Justice

Dark Avengers- covert team not publicly acknowledged and not answerable to any group, government or agency, but will occasionally work with other groups if needed

    Nick Fury (leader)
    Black Widow
    Moon Knight
    Swordsman
    Wonder Man
    Ant Man
    3D-Man
    Wolverine
    Nomad III (50's Captain America)

The REAL Avengers- Public, completely independant super hero team that is in competition, but not open conflict, with the Mighty Avengers, taking care of the Kangs, Neferias, and Ultrons of the world

Thor (or preferably a resurrected Thunderstrike)
    Black Panther (leader)
    Storm
    Beast (I can dream right?)
    Hawkeye (Clint)
    Yellowjacket
    Nova
    Quasar (Wendel)
    Hercules
    She Hulk

I really like this lineup! :)

But I think one more 'cosmic' or galaxy member is needed. One who is more adapt to handling outerworld problems that come from the universe and such. I can't think of who though.

I guess I'd say Sentry, though I hate his character, and I'm not sure if he's sane or still insane.

    The Avengers

    1) Cable - leading a whole new avenger team
    2) Hulk - the exact opposite of Cable all physical powers instead of mental
    3) Echo - every team nowadays needs a kung fu kicky boots type person
    4) Vision - the original back and giving the team a big avenger with alot of history to the avengers.
    5) Quake - this is the time she steps up and it's her time to shine
    6) Sersi - interesting powers.
    7) Dazaler - a pop star wants to join the most popular team on the planet who can blame her.
    8) Sandman - a villain who's trying to reform but carry's on blundering on his path to redemption.

    For one like unlimited lineup?

Captain America (Steve Rogers, obviously...to me anyway, I know Brubaker's done some good work Bucky, not denying the man's talent by any stretch, I just don't get the move in 1st place, he was more interesting as The Winter Soldier to me, if they were going to bring him back, personally for some reason I was always a Nomad fan, go figure.)
    Iron Man
    Thor
    Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell)
    Spiderman
    Thing
    Wolverine
    Hawkeye
    Namor
    Black Panther
    Ms. Marvel
    Ant Man
    Wasp
    Falcon

I'm sure I'm leaving out some obvious ones, I'll have to get back to it, for one like ultimate Avengers lineup, not Ultimate as in The Ultimates Avengers lineup. Ugh. Try saying that 3 times, lol...anyways this one would have to be for something huge as in a major crisis.

Here's the team I'd like to see.

    Hawkeye - Team Leader

    Spider-man - spider-powers, making jokes

Scarlet Witch - wildcard, like the sentry you're worried whether she's too powerful for her own good and whether she's going to go psycho again

Vision - The new one from Young Avengers, but put him in the all-white costume because he gets an upgrade.

    She-Hulk - super-strength, destroying stuff

Dr. Strange - magic, alternate dimensional stuff

Forge - Super-science, mutant issues, shootin' stuff

and just for fun...in the reserves...

Howard the Duck as Team Mascot

He also drives them, pilots their plane, and works ops back at headquarters when they're on missions

Avengers Couples: A romantic set of couples form the new team.

    Hawkeye (Barton) & Scarlet Witch
    Wasp & Yellowjacket
    Justice & Firestar
Luke Cage and the return of Jessica Jones (joins to recover baby from skrulls)

I'd stick with one team of iconic characters.

    Captain America
    Iron Man
    Hawkeye
    Quicksilver
    Storm
    Ms. Marvel
    Spider-woman

with guest stars who have connections with the team

Medusa (to keep an eye on Quicksilver after Silent War)
Black Panther (because of his relationship with Storm)
Maria Hill (because of her relationships with Tony Stark and Bucky)
Agents of Atlas, Astonishing X-Men, Cable, Captain Britain & the MI:13, Incredible Hercules, New Mutants, Runaways, X-Factor, X-Force, X-Men Legacy
Air, Batman & Robin, Detective Comics, Fables, Madame Xanadu, Scalped, Unwritten, Young Liars
Angel, Astounding Wolf-Man, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Chew, Crossed, Doctor Who, the End League, Fallen Angel, Invincible, the Last Resort, Phonogram, the Walking Dead

Did I miss something? What is Maria Hill's real relationship with Bucky, other then he was one of a few hundred blips on her radar when she was running shield?
