Post Phoenix Force reboot (heh) Avengers
1. Iron Man (Tony Stark - mother is latina in my take but, otherwise, no change at all)
2. Captain America (Steve Rogers - no change)
3. Thor (no change)
4. Giant-Man (Doctor Henry Pym - still a polymath but with a diagnosed mental illness regulated through medication - he and Jan were recruited prior to the idea of an Avengers came about; mainly for spy work - Janet would actually inspire Pym to take a more active role in crimefighting in my take; him being reluctant & more interested in scientific exploration)
5. Wasp (Janet Van Dyne - my take is more Bruce Wayne-ish - having a public face as a flighty heiress but being a mildly disguised crime solver for kicks - would have lost at least one of her parents to violent crime in adolescense & had self-defense training from that point on - would first encounter Hank while investigating her father's murder by an otherdimensional creature & clearly in over her head)
6. Hawkeye (Clint Barton - raised in a traveling carnival - short stint in the military; too cocky and anti-authority for his own good - recruited by what would become S.H.I.E.L.D as a disavowable solo operative - meets & becomes the pawn of the Black Widow in this role)
7. Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers - mix of her animated series counterpart & whatever good developments come out of the Captain Marvel take)
-------
Probationary Members (basically foreigners who haven't been thoroughly vetted by S.H.I.E.L.D, yet):
Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff - whatever her current status is)
Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch (Pietro and Wanda Maximoff - bear with me because this is going to be kind of extreme - when we first see them, the twins are actually trying to assassinate an already-leading-the-Brotherhood-of-Evil-Mutants-Magneto - he might vaguelly recognize them but be too distracted defending himself - though it won't be revealed for a while, Magda didn't make it - she wound up on Nathaniel Essex's operating table - he was masquerading as the High Evolutionary for awhile - anyways, he harvested the DNA of her children for a rainy day - fastforward to the present, Essex grows himself some weapons & sends them out to kill their father as an experiment/mind**** - they fail at their task and flee - while in hiding they encounter that angry mob, Magneto surprisingly comes to their rescue, inoculates them as terrorists, etc)
Black Panther (King T'challa - sticking to the animated series depiction)
Post-Phoenix reboot New Avengers (an emergency team of "problem" heroes recruited because of a temporary absence of the main Avengers)
1. Torch (Jim Hammond - long retired WWII-era hero and Captain America associate - Jim had made his mark as everything from a businessman to a police chief - SHIELD uses Cap's disappearance to drag him out of his peaceful existence - Hammond uses SHIELD files to recruit this impromptu team)
2. She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters - no real change - but she'd have a somewhat controversial reputation as a lawyer - the gamma hyperaccentuates the id and Jennifer, at heart, is a litigious, judgmental, and combative individual - at this point in her career she would have represented a number of super-villains & engaged in a little private justice with some of the eviler villains - at any rate, her experience with the classic Avengers would make her a bit disdainful of the new recruits)
3. Powerman (Luke Cage - no significant change - my version would be more stylish and proactive about marketing his services - still very involved in the community/harlem; seeing himself as their main protection - still has all of that good history with Danny - dates a lot but not one to cheat or womanize - enjoys being understimated as an angry street thug)
4. Iron Fist (Daniel Rand - no significant change - he's a warrior trying his hand as a philathropist/corporate raider when Hammond recruits him - he and Luke had gotten in some trouble doing some mercenary work overseas - Hammond/SHIELD offer him a get-out-of-jail-free card)
5. Spectrum (Monica Rambeau - the most normal of the bunch - Monica was a highly decorated fast-rising star within the New Orleans Police Department but also the subject of much sexual harrassment & jealousy - her role in exposing corruption within the office made her a target - the "injured parties" made their move on Monica during a city-evacuating hurricane - Monica survived the attempted murder a physically-changed woman; able to transform herself into any form of energy within the electromagnetic spectrum)
6. Black Knight (Dane Whitman - instead of detasseling or working at McDonalds, young Dane was spending his summers pulling heists and arms dealing at the behest of his criminal Uncle Nathaniel; a full-fledged Master of Evil - intending Dane to follow in the family tradition of costumed villainy, he was given the best education & weapons training that money could buy - Dane's noble streak would have him take up a slightly less active role as the UK's prime provider of hand-forged exotic weaponry; their answer to the Tinkerer, to clarify - Dane's shop would have been visited by every costumed super-villain on the continent at one time or another - but Dane wouldn't see action until his uncle (as the Black Knight) fell to his death while fighting the american Avengers - a misguided Dane would have sought revenge and yadda yadda yadda he doesn't have the stomach for evil so he eventually reforms, shares many an adventure w/ Captain Britain - relocates to the states to escape his past - here he is recruited into the New Avengers - did i mention that Dane incorporates science and magic for his own personal arsenal? he doesn't have anywhere near the understanding of magic that a sorceror like Strange or Doom would have - but he can make a mystically-juiced power lance that can level a building just fine
7. Ant-Man (Scott Lang - a gadgeteer-turned master thief who went into early retirement after running into his ex-girlfriend & their child - prior to this he and Ghost were Justin Hammer's go-to information thieves; Ghost being the smarter of the two but seen as less reliable because of his politics/mental instability - leaving Hammer's employ turned out to be a headache - after a few attempts on his life & offspring Scott reluctantly starts doing even riskier jobs for Hammer - when he tries to draw the line at murder, Hammer has then-operative Crossfire kidnap Cassie - Lang is forced to break into Pym's lab to retrieve some potentially game-changing invention - instead he takes the Ant-Man suit and goes after Crossfire - he succeeds w/ Pym's unexpected aid - sometime later, Scott uses the ant-gear to get to Hammer & privately convinces him that accepting his resignation is in his best interests - Lang is relocated & set up at Stark International - he continues to stay in touch w/ his surprisingly street-wise (like Hit-Girl-independent) daughter - anyways, Hammond offers him a spot on the team - did i mention that Lang & his ex met while both being enrolled at an early version of Taskmaster's crime academy? Taskmaster didn't have a costume back then.
