Wow, what a huge steaming pile of cheese.
Especially that video...christ. "I am superman"? Here's an idea, raise money for something less pointless than repairing a cheap old house and then you can really wallow in that smug satisfaction.

    Absolutely correct, what a waste.

I'm inclined to agree. There are much better uses for my money.

    Default Save the Siegel house

    Mike SanGiacomo here,
Okay, I'm prejudiced about saving the Siegel house since I've been pushing for it for a long time. I think it's a hell of an idea. So does the cream of the comic industry, artists and writers willing to create something new (or donate something rare) to raise money to keep the Siegel house from crumbling. Once a piece of history is gone, it's gone forever. I think raising the money will be no trouble, considering the cool items being auctioned. I have my eye on the Geoff Darrow Krypto piece. Sure there are a million problems bigger than saving the siegel house, but there will always be. This is something the comics community can do.

There's always something "better" you can donate your money to -- it's all an issue of perspective -- but that said I think this is an excellent idea. Preserving the legacy and history of the comics industry is very important and if this house could eventually be turned into some sort of museum, well, I'd be all for it.

So you're donating money for those causes instead of spending it on silly things like comics & internet access, right?

Wow -- you're my hero! So are NOD, nonbornking & dancj!
I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."
Basically, if you miss the wonder of a dog flying around in a little Superman cape, you're in the wrong hobby.

I'd be interested in buying a T-shirt if the design by "legendary graphic designer, Chip Kidd", didn't look like it took 5 minutes in Power Point to make. Couldn't he at least have used a Supermanish font or something?

Anyway, there's a lot of things I wouldn't mind bidding on, but I doubt I'll be able to afford to win 'em. Good luck raising the money!

I'm glad somebody said it in a way that wouldn't get me banned.

By which I mean, I'm glad you said it instead of me.

If I'm going to put money towards a charitable cause, it's going to be for something more noteworthy than something like this.

I hate to sound mean, but this is all karma coming back to bit us all.

I mean with the Siegel and the Shuster families trying to regain the Superman aspects from DC and Warner, makes me wonder why should we try to help them ?

Did you read the article? They are trying to preserve Siegel's childhood home as a place of historical significance.
And yeah, screw the Siegel and Shuster families for trying to regain the copyrights of a character that their fathers created. I mean, what the hell, they were only contesting the copyright as allowed by the law. Right? The enjoyment you get from Superman is certainly more important than trifles like Justice and the American way.

To me I see it like this...

I mean suere doesn't the Sigels understand the meanings of their fathers creations and the impact it has on the pop culture world ?

To take that away from DC Comics may mean something more to us all, right ?
