    Default Are variants worth getting?

Are the spiderman variant covers worth getting are they going to be worth something in the future or are they just a money thing as the 568 comic has 4-5 variants

it has 3 variants and 1 regular cover.

Traditionally variants of the non-50/50 variety are worth more to the collector than the original in some cases. Think golden/silver age, those would not matter. Where as the turner cover version of civil war are worth more than the regular due to rarity (not to mention turners death has probably increased them a bit.).

of NWTD from a strictly rare point a view.... Cover 3 by JRsr and cover 4 the black and white version of cover 1..... would both be worth more than cover 1 or 2. In 50 years that may not be the case....

Id recommend getting the ones you can afford to get and enjoy the art on.

If you like the cover and can afford it go for it. I used to be a variant cover slob, had to have everything, and all it got me was an empty pocket. I only buy the variants that I actually like.

if youre worried about value and how much variants are worth they most likely arent worth buying. sometimes the variants can be worth more right when they come out as the demand is high but then the value falls off. take for instance astonishing xmen 4 had a rare collosus variant cover that ran in the neighborhood of $15-20 or more when it first came out now you can find that same cover for $5. in short do you feel like its worth spending the extra money on a rare cover.

I get em if they aren't more than cover (EDIT and I like it more than the regular!).

    Otherwise I pass.

Like comics in general (which, when it comes right down to it are only worth the paper they are printed on), they are worth it if you enjoy it!

And you have the money to blow on multiple version of a product with material you used to get for free.

I just hope they stick to the variants just being a different artists version of the cover instead of going back to the gimmicks. Those are the variants that I would be interested in especially if it's a cover by one of my fave artists.

I used to be a variant cover nut, but these days, they don't really matter to me. I'm no longer a completist, and I have yet to see a modern variant significantly increase in value. So, if I feel like making an investment, I go for more conventional options these days.

As far as my collection goes, I usually just get the cover I like best, if the price is right, -- meaning low. I adore Tony Daniel's variant cover for Batman #679, but I'm not going to pay €14,00 for it. For that money, I could get four other books!

That is a sweet ass cover. If I was collecting batman I'd think hard about buying that. I feel that too about the variants not rising in price significantly. I think the only variants worth a lot are the 1/100 variants or the sketch variants.
