New 3 Day Comic Convention... Midwestcomic Con!..
Al right.. I've sorta been holding off on writing about this, mailing because I know almost nothing about it..! I have lots of questions and no one seems to have any answers...
So.. Just in case you don't know... A new 3-day Comic convention has been announced for Indianapolis IN. called The Mid-West Comic-con... see the website below...
http://midwestcomiccon.com
I've wanted a large scale comic con in Indianapolis for nearly 20 years.. and it looks like one will finally exist. But a few things seem to be a bit troubling to me just from looking at their website..
There are some guests announced, but NONE of them are comic book creators.. in fact the website doesn't make any reference to an artist's alley at all...
I'm interested in which vendors will be setting up at the convention... No information as to which vendors will be attending is presented.
And lastly... No one I speak to seems to know anything about this convention that isn't listed on the website... Most folks seem as if they have never heard about it at all...
So I reach out to you fans of the ol' internet... Does anyone know anything about this convention...? Are there any other threads or links out there in cyberspace discussing this show..?

Midwest comicon...
Well that is more than I know... I spoke with many people at Bell Book and Comic today ( in Dayton OH) and NONE of them had even heard of the MidWestComicCon.... Thought someone there thought that it was scheduled for the same week at the dimaond comics retailer's summit... can anyone confirm this...?
I love that the website for this con has a counter stating only 78 days until the show.... In the mean time I've not talked to ONE dealer who has signed up for booth space..... No artist's either...
Billy... I'm thinking that you and I are the only two people who know about this show...

Really?
Is this thing legit? I went to the website, and it looks cool. But the fact that they have already postponed the thing, is that really good for business? LoL!

Indy Needs A 3 Day Comic Convention!
I can't tell you just how much I want Indianapolis to have a major multi-day comic book convention. From the moment that I first heard of the Midwest Comicon I attempted to make contact with the show promoter... After several attempts via e-mail I was finally given table space.... I did not know that the 2008 convention had been canceled until a friend informed me that an announcement had been made via the Midwest Comicon's Myspace page. Though I was one of the guests of the convention I was never contacted with the news of the cancellation. Had I not been told of the Myspace posting I would have shown up the day of the show to find nothing.
The official word, as I understand it, is that has "been officially postponed to a undecided 2009 date". Nothing would make me happier than to see this convention actually happen. I attend the local Ash comics conventions and think that the promoter Andy Holzman dones a fine job, but by design his show is a one day event and can not offer the intense annual fan gathering event that a 3 day show could offer... Anyone who has ever been a part of a 3 day convention weekend knows what I'm talking about.
If the Midwest Comic con formally announces a 3 day show in Indianapolis, I'll what what ever I can to help spread the word and bring the fans together to celebrate this great hobby... I've thought for years and years now just how much Indianapolis loves comics... To think that this city supports two local chains of 4 stores each, as well as other independent comic book outlets shows the intense interest this area has for this hobby... If the fans had one great convention once a year to serve as a chance to share their fanaticism the turn out could really be incredible. And I'll go on to say this as well.. I think that such an exciting weekend would only serve to increase sales at the existing comic shops year round.
If only it would happen...
