Oh, and before someone makes the connection between Spidey holding up tons of rubble and the iconic scene in Amazing Spider-Man #33... I'm doing it.

sept hes in a subway and there's an earthquake..... but i follow you. Story=different. the cover does pay its respects to that classic story though.

Exactly. Homage, not cheap knock-off imitation. I was hoping that pointing it out first would dessuade someone else from doing the same thing except with the snark-smiley (i.e., this smiley:  ).

I think the image felt stronger when more black took up the cover, and Spider-Man was crowded into the far bottom-right corner.
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!

    Thumbs up

I dig this cover a lot. This is one of my favorite covers in a while. I'm digging the granov cover for part 2 of nwtd as well but this looks great.
comic fans aren't happy unless there's something to bitch about

I buy comics for the characters not for the writer/artist

currently reading issue 340 of amazing spiderman cd-rom.

I think we all agree that it is outstanding art and that Martin is a tremendous artist; I would just like to add that it is time to lay off the similarities to a cover that is over 40 years old.....after a while, you are going to have the eventual similaritis and as long as it is not an out-and-out swipe/homage, we just need to let it slide. Clearly, Martin's cover depicts the struggle within the pages as the issue's description makes clear.
