Default "War of Kings" - Information & Speculation

According to an announcement at the Secret Invasion panel at San Diego Comic-Con (CBR's article is here), the "Who Will Rule" teasers we've all been speculating about relate to a Secret Invasion spin-off event called "War of Kings," featuring Vulcan, the Starjammers, the Inhumans, and more.

Very cool. It's very interesting to see these seemingly disparate threads, The Shi'ar, The Inhumans, The GotG, Nova, the Starjammers, come together in once series. Just goes to show you the vastness of the Marvel Universe's...uh, universe!

The potential of this seems awesome. An epic fight b/w a mentally unbalanced Vulcan and an angry Black Bolt. The GotG fighting against The Inhuman royal family (would love to see Karnak take on Gamora). Or perhaps the Inhumans against the Shi'ar Imperial Guard? Nova working together with Havok and the Starjammers.

I skipped Annihilation: Conquest, but this DEFINITELY looks like something I might pick up.

This is great, as long as they don't call this Annihilation then I'm good.

Not exactly what I was hoping for, but with DnA on the title, I will reserve judgment until
    more info is forthcoming.

About time the Shi'ar get back into the cosmic scene! Sounds promising so far, very much looking forward to it, though I'm not sold on the Inhumans being involved; they always seemed more Earth-y to me than Cosmic-y. Still, getting Vulcan and the Shi'ar involved with Nova and the Guardians of the Galaxy is too awesome.

How come no one asked Quesada or Bendis if they realized what a disappointment Secret Invasion is to us readers?

I think he did answer it a little after saying this is the last big event for a while.

It's not done yet, why so disappointing? I wasn't horribly interested until I started getting more of the tie-ins and doing some historical (if speculative) digging. I am liking Secret Invasion.

Perhaps it's relative to Civil War, WWH, and Annihilation. I don't know.. what recent big event in the MU did you like substantially more than SI? (I'm guessing it'll be a long list after that comment.)

It's not necessarily bad. But it pales in comparison to Final Crisis.

Well in all seriousness, while I find the series very disappointing, I really hate those rude comments that seem to get thrown out in the big panels.

First, that is an awesome Thunderbolts pic shown.

Second, I wish I'd been there for this. That panel was like a geek erection. Sigh.

Third, it is surprising how fans react when someone confronts Joe Q about OMD/BND. At Mondo Marvel, I believe, the audience groaned when one dude brought it up. The audience also mostly clapped when Joe mentioned it.
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!

If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.
