Default Various Titles...What Issue to Start With?

As stated in my last post I'm getting back into comics after a while away. I'm looking to find a good 'starting point' for a variety of comics just to take a look and see if they might be a title I want to collect. I do not want to go back and try and find the last 5 issues of a title, probably 2 issues back is the max. If an arc is ending with the most recent issue I'd just as soon wait until the next issue instead of going 4 or 5 issues back.

So, with what issue would be a great place to begin on the following titles:

    - Amazing Spiderman (I know you said it's horrible but I gotta find out for myself..used to be my favorite read)

    - Astonishing X-Men

    - Captain America

    - Ghost Rider

    - New Avengers

    - X-Force

    -Wolverine

Thanks for any help you can give.

Astonishing X-men just recently got a new writer and artist team after Whedon left the series, so issue 25 is a good place to jump on, issue 26 is coming out this week so now would be the perfect time to start picking it up.

X-Force is a very new series, issue 6, the conclusion of this first arc, is coming out at the end of August. I know you said you don't like going 5 issues back but if you can I think that you should. If not wait until September and start off on issue 7.

And I'd wait until Secret Invasion is over before you jump onto New Avengers.

I second everything Seikun said. In addition:

Wolverine is currently a series of largely unconnected arcs. #62-65 (Get Mystique) was awesome. Millar's 'Old Man Logan' story started with #66 (now at #67) but future issues will be delayed so I would trade wait on this.

Ghost Rider: start with # 20 or alternatively #24 (now at #25).

Cpt America is worth reading from the very start of Brubaker's run. There is a nice omnibus collecting #1-25. Jumping on board right now doesn't really make sense.

Amazing Spider Man: I'm enjoying the series. Start reading with #546 the beginning of Brand New Day (I think) or #565 for the latest arc.

And again: Give Nova a chance. It's a great book. The last arc ran in issues #13-15. Starting with #16 out this month we will have a SI tie-in.

If you want to start w/o reading any TPB and just single issues:
    - Astonishing X-Men #25 (July)
    - Captain America #43 (October)
    - X-Force #7 (September)

These are at the starting point of a new storyarc.
