Default Helen Killer - Anybody hear of this series?

Hey, I've recently become interested in this series called Helen Killer, published by Spacedog Entertainment. Here's the synopsis for the story:

"At the dawn of the 20th Century, Twenty-one year old college student Helen Keller has a dark secret - science has restored her lost senses and granted her unimaginable power. Will she use it to protect herself and her country... or will it destroy them both? Thoroughly researched, Helen Killer blends a full cast of historical characters with high octane super-spy action, examining the extraordinary spirit of one of the most inspiring individuals of the twentieth century."

Pretty awesome if you ask me. I've been trying to find back issues, specifically the first issue, but my old standby ordering site, midtowncomics.com, has only issues 2 and 3. I was just wondering:
    a) If other people have read the series and what do they think
    b) Should I buy the book via the publisher's website, spacedogentertainment.com. Has anybody used the site before? Do you think any copies of issue#1 would be left?

Thanks for any info you can give.

hmm. Technically SpaceDog entertaiment isn't the publisher. It appears to be some kinda production studio, a collection of writers and artists. They have a number of books at different publishers. I didn't know that. Might as well get it there.

Anyway, Helen Killer is a pretty neat story so far. It's one of those crazy historical fiction tales that takes famous figures and does something kinda twisted with them. Good fun.

Yeah, for some reason I've just been on a whole Helen Killer trip today. Read some reviews, even watched the boys from Pulp Secret chat about it, and they too went on a whole "twisted history" trip. Totally would like to read a Mahhatma GUNDHI series!

Anyway, thanks for the info Xenos.

Spacedog is more of a marketing/design firm that owns various comic IPs.

    But does she break dance?

No, she doesn't breakdance, though she does some pretty sweet acrobatic fighting. I mean, were talking Daredevil stuff here.

As on update on the status concerning Helen Killer, I was able to find issue #1 at my local store. However, though I had ordered issues 2 and 3 online, only #3 came in. My store said it's backordering #2 and it should come within a month or so. Here's hoping.

My thoughts so far on the series is that it's pretty cool. Though the artwork still needs a little fine tuning, the action and story are quite interesting. In the midst of all of these early 20th century anarchists plotting to assassinate the American president, overturn the American economy, and seek vengence on Alexander Graham Bell, you have Helen who is slowly succumbing to the darkness inside her due to the effects of her Omincle. In order to combat these evils outside of her, she must tap into her own inner evils, which comes at a terrible cost to her psyche. I have to say, the inner turmoil and pain she endures is quite heart-wrenching.

I'm digging the romantic tension she has with agent Blaylock, and, I must say, Helen Keller back in the day looked pretty damn hot. Interesting how she played the role of a prostitute in order to catch a suspect.

All in all, can't wait for the final (as well as the second) issues of the series. Great comic if you're into historical fiction.

    Thumbs up

Digging the series as well. I actually just ordered it directly from Spacedog via their website: http://www.spacedogentertainment.com. Waiting on Issue #4 to become available, but 1 - 3 have been killer (pardon the pun)
