I'm boycotting it, Orson Scott Card is a ****ing homophobe.
I went and made a webcomic...
Saturn Sally
I read everything he put out until I read an interview with him. Bigots don't interst me much, But he does write a damned fine book.
Chris Yost is writing it and he likes everyone!! Well, except for young mutant children
Can you see link me to the interviews where he gay bashes? Also there seems to be quite a lot of homosexual comic book fans or at least ones that frequent these forums. Just an observation not meant by it.
Wikipedia, despite its flaws, does have its uses.![]()
Simon Amstell: If you have some problem in your life and you need to deal with it then use religion it's fine. I use Google.
Boy, I'm glad I never cared for his books. On the other hand, Chris Yost...
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!
If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.

Here you go:

Card basically says homosexuality (and any sex outside of religious marriage) is a sin, and advocates laws criminalizing homosexual behaviour.
The first time I've heard of it, I was shocked that a science fiction writer that famously preaches tolerance for alien lifeforms can't accept homosexuals.
The first two Ender books (that I've read) have no homosexuals in it, but there are instances in the second book where characters engaged in adultery and other sexual "sins" are hideously punished by "fate".
I thought nothing of it when I've first read them, but later, when I discovered about Card's ideology, it made sense. And I got sickned.
And yep, there is a lot of comic book fans that are gay, incidentally. Superhero comics particularly have always appealed to me and many of my gay friends. Is it the tight, colorful clothing? The characters living double lives that mirror many gays that live in the closet in their teenage years? Maybe it's just that anyone who feels like an outsider enjoys these enpowerment fantasies. I dunno, I only know that a lot of the gay crowd likes superheroes.
The worst part of all this for me is that despite Marvel constantly spinning about diversity, why the **** are they still hiring and contributing to this bigot?

Get a load of this.
Nicely done, Marvel.

Because Orson Scott Card sells, and Chuck Dixon doesn't.
On the flipside, you could ask why Card writes for a company that has numerous homosexuals and extramarital sexual relations, both in and out of the books.
The Punisher: I’m going to cauterize your rectum, sealing it shut, so when you turn those delicious Pink Pants™ Fruit Pies into waste products the bilirubin in your feces will leach into your bloodstream and you’ll die screaming! And I’ll watch while having sex with this grateful prostitute!
Trussed-Up Hooker: Blueberry are my favorite!
In other words, what StoneGold said.

I can't read more than two paragraphs of Card's writings without getting angry. Particularly about law and rights and freedoms.
The only freedom Card recognizes is the "freedom" to follow the dictates of his God. And obviously he and his Church have a direct line to God and are the only ones that know what the Big Guy's plans are.
In this, Card isn't different from millions of people that would love it if the whole world were a theocracy like Iran. But in Card's case, what is truly sad is that he is very talented, creative, and intelligent.
Such a waste.
And he makes Chuck Dixon look like some free love hippie. I can't think of anyone in the industry that is as socially conservative as he is. Perhaps Dave Sim or Mark S. Miller (NOT Millar, of course, but Miller).
