Default CCI: Darwyn Cooke on the Parker Graphic Novels

Darwyn Cooke will be adapting Donald Westlake's "Parker" series of crime novels as original graphic novels, IDW announced Wednesday night at Comic-Con International. CBR News caught up with Cooke to discuss the project.

This is *awesome*. The books are great and Cooke's style is perfect for adapting them. It's also telling that Westlake is letting him use the Parker name because he didn't allow that for any of the movie adaptations - Hollywood kept insisting on changing the character somehow, giving him normal human emotions and crap like that.

    I can't wait for this.

    The promo art looks great.

I may have to actually read the novels though. I've put it off for awhile.

I basically know nothing about these books but the genre and setting sound perfect for Cooke. I can't wait to read these. I'll definitely want to buy these up.

Awesome news. I love Cooke's comic work and I have read and greatly enjoyed a few of the Parker novels. They seem very hard to find lately as I've been looking the last few months.

It looks like come September, the University of Chicago Press is bringing a bunch of them back into print in trade paperback editions. Hopefully the whole collection will come out at some point.

    Default for fictional comics....

sounds like a good project for him, but I prefer 'original' material in my comic books to 'adaptations' of pre-researched stuff.
