Fan-favorite comics creator Keith Giffen dishes on his anarchic upcoming six- issue miniseries “Ambush Bug: Year None,” and explains why it’s important for comics to bring back the funny.

I recently re-read the old Ambush Bug specials, minis, etc. Partly because I had heard about the new miniseries, partly because I am clearing out a ton of crap. Somehow, the Bug popped up from that ton of crap, and away we go!

My humor has been skewed an awful lot over the last few years - last time I read AMBUSH BUG was before my mind was "Pythonized," if you will, so BUG was an odd experience - so I'm actually looking forward to reading this stuff with this new perspective of mine.

And it's nice to read that even the editors can look at the comic line and say "Hrm. It's a bit dark. We need something to brighten it up. Call Giffen!"

The rumor mill says that a "DC Comics Presents" style B&W trade is coming later this year that will reprint all of AB's best stuff.

We've been needing Ambush bug to rake DC over the coals for some time now.
Look, he ended the Dan Didio debates with 4 panels. With 6 issues DC might rule the world.

    Giffen in his element.

I've never read Ambush Bug but based on his work on JLI, I expect nothing but to laugh out loud with this book. Anyone know if the old Ambush Bug will be collected in TPB form?

I hope thats true -- I am utterly psyched for this new AB run.

Anybody else get this? What a fun mini. I was laughing out loud at the conversation with Jean Loring. :)

The bit with the Source Wall at the beginning was a great start. Never read the Bug before but I really enjoyed this.

    Thumbs up

I think I'm gonna continue picking up this series. I enjoyed the first issue, but won't lie when I say I was a little confused at times. We'll see how this goes.

That pretty much sums up every issue of Ambush Bug. I thought the first issue was fairly restrained, wait until the crazy really does hit the fan. :)
