R.I.P. Don't pee in the (Dead)pool, November 2007 - January 2013
Yes without a doubt it a better book. Even though it's part of a larger story, it is told better, the art is better and the pacing is better. Even the scope is grander. Britan is fighting for their right to live and all america seem to be doing is running and questioning the heroes who are trying to help them.
They're different types of stories. This is alien invasion as big-budget war movie, the SI mini is about alien invasion as paranoia thriller.
That said, on a purely visceral level, this is definitely more satisfying. I'm a sucker for a good "hero" moment, and this issue had a fine one.

This book is awesome!
I can't believe that Shuma Gorath actually showed up in a recent comic!
In the span of three issues CB&MI13 has gone to the top of my list, rivaling Captain America as favorite series. Cornell's storytelling is just...fantastic. He's tying into current MU events seamlessly...and managing to use recent plotlines by Claremont nonetheless...making them good even.
Kirk's storytelling is equally fantastic. A great look to a great book.
X-Poster of the Year 2003--- the best there is at what i do ---
The one complaint I have of this book is a distinct lack of Captain Midlands. Well, and sometimes the art, but it's starting to grow on me. I also like that they're setting the stage for just what MI13 will be handling post-Invasion.
I'm not big on supernatural books, but this one has me hooked.
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!
If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.

Pete Wisdom and MI13 (yeah that's right, that's the true title :) ) is one of my favorite books that Marvel puts out along w/ X-Factor DD and Nova. MI13 is a MUST, it does have characters that aren't that well known for the most part but every issue gives you a great feel for each characters personality and what they're all about.
The team is a great mix of characters and power sets, and just very unique personalities that will hopefully make this book an ongoing for as long as Marvel is in buisness.
The part with all the Union Jacks was a great way to enspire hope to the people and was a very cool way to form the new, very bad ass and fantastic looking, costume.
I just hope Pete doesn't get too much $h!t about breaking open the door when everything is over w/ the Skrulls.
And also, like other posters, I really hopes this ties into some future pick up of Mystic Arcana, it would be a shame to not see anything done with that story for another year or more. I just hope that's what the new teaser is about that Marvel has with that guy with the gun all shaded black. (doubt it though)
Another fantastic issue. This books keeps surprising me with its high quality. The pacing is great, the characters enjoyable, the plot engaging and the art competent. One of my favorite reads this week.
Hmm. The bit with all the Union flags ripping themselves off flagpoles and flying to where CB was resurrected...what I want to know is, did Joey Chapman, wherever he was in the UK, suddenly find himself fighting Skrulls naked?
No, he's not. But I don't really think that anybody is calling him one. Oberon's wording should be taken in a general sense.
That was a really nice sequence. The rhetoric too. Not over the top, or hammy, just a sense of purpose.
Yes. Although this is a kind of fix for some of what that did. I am glad, for example, that the weird Pure Evil Merlyn, that Claremont seemed to like, has been removed. It was an illogical characterisation, to me.
Indeed. And I kinda hope we see a bit more of the 'Skrulls of Pendragon'. That would be cool. ;)
A very good question. Cyttorak has always created Juggernauts to be his avatar on Earth - because he could get there from his domain. If he is now in the collective consciousness of a whole country, is there really any need for a Juggernaut, anymore?
Indeed. One of the things I enjoy most about brand wide events like this is seeing how it effects the rest of the world, in books like Black Panther or House of M: Fantastic Four. An invasion of this size effects the whole planet.
It's also great to see Brian as a powerhouse, rather than a quirky figure of fun. Or worse - a drunk.
That really is, yes. And I'd have to say that the pacing so far is pretty much note perfect.
Lol. It was something pretty impressive, yes.
Could well be part of it, yes. And it would suit the likes of Dane and Blade. And after his mention last issue, I'd say that Mortigan Goth may figure in that, too. He knows demons pretty well. He sold his soul to one of them...
Yes, it really is. It is managing to maintain that feel.
Yeah, that's pretty much how I'm seeing it, too. It's like taking an advantage of a opportunity.
And remember, they me be free, but their not actually ON Earth. They could get there if they opened the right door, but right now they just kind of in the collective conscious of Britain. Which in many way is actually more dangerous.
Two very different entities. The main SI series plays at a very different pace. It's much slower. Despite it's first issue big happenings the plot hasn't actually moved very far, yet. I'm hoping that may change in #4. Not read that yet. It's still on the stack.
Not after THIS issue, it isn't ;)
Yes, and yet it doesn't sacrifice the story to do that. It does service to both sides of the equation, and I think that this is why it's grabbed so many people's attention.
Wow! Now that's ambition. I hope this book does last for a good long while. As long as the stories are good and the characters interact this well, I see no reason why not.
This is Pete Wisdom! Of course he's going to be in the $h!t! He thrives on it!
Yeah, nobody knows WHAT that is yet.
Lol. Now there's a funny thought. "I 'ate you Captain Britain! There were were, me and Captain Midlands, trying hold off the Skrull advance in a part of the Country you didn't care to help out - And all of a sudden a mystical forth is whipping off my clothing! You any idea how hard it is to fight alien hordes in the nip? You owe me!"
