Hard to believe that with all the derivative x-characters running around, they'd actually deem Nightcrawler worthy of killing off. I realize that he has been all but invisible in recent years, but surely some writer out there could have utilized a character like Kurt in an interesting capacity. I'm sure the creatives behind Second Coming felt they needed a big death to give their crossover weight, but it's not worth losing Nightcrawler. Storm is still alive, right? Couldn't they have taken her out instead?

Or Angel since they have worked together on X-Force...but yeah, I don't think it will be Angel either.

More Kurt. From X-Men Heroes For Hope one-shot to aid hunger in Africa. Story By Bill Mantilo and art by Charles Vess. In THIS sequence. This was a jam. Stephen King wrote the Kitty one I think.

I think Storm is a little too big for that. But yeah...first underused for years and then killed off. Like there was nothing else they could have done with him. *sigh*

Well, he is Roman Catholic, isn't he? Comes with a death wish, believe me.

If they killed Piotr right after bringing back Kitty, I would laugh and laugh. They could become like Jean and Rachel, "one may only live while the other catapults across the multiverse...!"

It feels wrong to put my money on Warren, but part of me still just can't believe it'll be Kurt.

Yeah, there are plenty of characters not living up to their potential aside from Kurt. If anything, Kurt gets extra status from being classic. But with the exception of certain darling cash cows that shall got unnamed, I don't think even seniority protects anyone from arbitrary killings anymore. Maybe the Marvel writers have taken to drawing names out of a hat. "- Dagnabbit, Wolverine again! Well, who can we put in his place..?"
    nightcrawler - shadowcat - wolverine - storm - rogue - beast - cypher - cyclops - emma frost - colossus - psylocke - havok - iceman - moonstar - marrow - surge - mercury - anole

IIRC Fraction said something about it being an emotional loss. Kurt seems to me like one of the few characters that nobody hates, (fanwise) and everyone will be sad to see go. Most other x-characters seem to have just as many haters as fans, but everyone loves Kurt

Kurt makes perfect sense as a death bc he's a safe kill. He's a veteran X-men so his death would be a meaningful one as opposed to some random C lister, but at the same time no writer is invested in writing for him so its no big loss on their end.

    It's happening in X-Force, isn't it?

We've killed our fair share of characters, usually laughing as we typed the words," jokes Yost. "This one was different."

So they appear to feel sorry for it too, at least.

It might even not necessarily be a disaster if it servers the purpose of restoring the importance and depth of Kurt's character, as well as other characters through some realistic, non-melodramatic grieving (*coughLogancough*), and if he's revived in some reasonable amount of time- again, in at least partially 'realistic' way (I use the term loosely; I know that realistic and Marvel don't mix, but I don't know a better word) which would allow him to be reestablished as the character we knew and loved from some old times. Though I'm skeptical about Marvel being so insightful. I understand that it could easily be done without killing him off, but knowing that every publisher, Marvel being no exception, literally LIVES on strong emotions their characters induce in their readers, I can see why they are doing it. I don't like it, I hate it, it makes me sick and ridiculously sad, but I can see their interest in it.
    Yuck.

I don't think Kurt coming back is will be that hard to manuever considering his family trucks with demons and all. (I know we'd all like to forget that, but maybe in the grand scheme of things, it will work out). I just hope he doesn't come back as another horseman. Warren, Logan, Polaris, Sunfire and Gambit should get matching jackets or something.

Don't feel like talking about the latest installment of 'Second Coming' On my end, no offense...

Kurt likes it rough continues. The only thing is we didn't get to see Betsy stab him with her 'sword' on panel.

Kurt and Cerise... lol I love Kurts stance in the final ready to fight off Cerise full force.

I doubt Kurt will be brought back too soon after he is killed off. The creative team will probably feel for Kurt's death to mean anything they will have to keep him dead.
