    Welcome, TheMutantJinx!

I'm pretty partial to Darrick Robertson's version of Nightcrawler. He does a very good job conveying that Kurt is actually a handsome fellow who just happens to be covered in thin blue fur.

Alan Davis' Nightcrawler is good, but his hollow cheeks and incredibly bushy eyebrows make him look kinda like an old man. Although the drawings that Devilish post aren't too bad.

Hehehehe!!! I love the bushy Spock brows! But you're right it does make him look older but being 30+ I prefer my Nightcrawler not looking like jailbait ;)

Being way older than all of you, I too prefer Kurt not to appear too young.

BTW, does anyone besides me think that his tail needs to be much thicker if he's supposed to be able to hang by it? It couldn't possibly taper that much and still have enough muscle to hold his weight. Maybe just barely a sword, but swordplay takes strength also.

You aren't alone. 8) Davis' tail has always been on the scrawny side. I'd prefer it to be atleast twice that in thickness. I think the movies portray a good size. Azazel's tail was perfect in first class, too bad Kurts wasnt as much of a feature in X2. Less hotdog, more sausage. LOL

You know, one thing that never fails to make me laugh?

How casually Kurt lands on peoples shoulders. Isn't he supposed to weigh between 165-180ish lbs. Im pretty sure if someone close to 200lbs landed on my neck it would instantly result in me faceplanting into the ground. ROFL!

You're absolutely right. With the possible exception of Logan, and maybe Colossus, the average guy would collapse under his weight, especially if it appeared there unexpectedly and all at once.

Back to the tail, I can't think of any real creature that has such a strange pointy shape as Kurt's has. I know it's supposed to make one think of the stereotypical devil, but it doesn't seem to serve a truly practical purpose. (Except in one ish where he shelled peanuts and flipped them into his mouth, but that's a bit much, IMO.) Your average animal, and especially the ones with prehensile tails, have them ending without any widening at the tip. Tapering a bit, yes, but not tapering much on the tail-hangers like monkeys. Can anyone think of an exception?

    Thanks for all the welcomes!

And I always wondered about that, too. I mean, it might be justified with Logan, but not with everyone else.

Aww, poor thing. You know, he'd probably look like a hairbrush if he got electrocuted, with the fur standing up everywhere..PLOOF.

Yeah, I like the more mature Kurt, definitely.

Yep, that is a long standing pet peeve, the same with the varying length. I thought Robertson was pretty close as far as the width of his tail, and Davis drew it waaay too thin.
The spade has always had me boggled as well. The tail is prehensile, the spade has been shown to be able to manipulate very small objects, so is it something like the muscular structure of a tongue, would that be a good comparison? Essentially flat, but with a complex muscle system? (Don't go there people I'm trying to ask a question here.) With Azazel in the films, he was shown stabbing people with the end of his tail.

You know, come to think of it, I'd really really like to see someone go splat when Kurt teleports onto their shoulders. That would be great.

    Totally went there...

I'd like to think that the tail itself is what has the muscular control and the spade is more rigid cartilage then anything else, there for balance. Aerodynamics so to speak. Besides the peanut incident can anyone else name a situation where Kurt manipulated the flares? All I can think of off hand are the flits coming from the tip, nothing super fluid.

Well, if Davis Kurt looks old, he's one hot old man. I think Davis has an eyebrow fetish. A lot of his characters have big eyebrows, especially Kurt. I agree, the only thing I didnt like about Davis Kurt was the small tail. I actually prefer loose curls or waves to really tight small curls.

I love Choi's Kurt, I didnt really notice the hips.

My favorite of the more modern artists...

    Yu

    Choi

    Larocca

    And...
