Again, I think Brad Swaile did the best Nightcrawler.
Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker, Professor X, Mar-Vell, Richard Rider- Bring Them Back!!!
Definitely the "getting ready to spit in your face" sound for the German CH. Although I have heard it in some German songs pronounced more like SH. Maybe that's easier for singing.
The rolled R is harder for me than the CH. But I don't hear it as much or as extravagantly in songs as it used to be. Maybe it's going out of style. Or maybe it's just the songs I choose to listen to. Closest I've got to a language lab to practice with. (I especially like Heino and Matthias Reim, on the off chance anyone else knows who they are.)
If I've got my dates right, the next issue of UX-F should be out today. Time to go check with my local comic shop.
Going to see if I can make an invisible spoiler about UXF-23. Will post scans next Wednesday.

I'm sure everyone will enjoy the short interlude between Darkholme and Meggan. Shades of EXcalibur!
BTW, if anyone likes fanfic about Kurt and Logan, check out the Logurt site at http://logurt.webs.com/
Some of the stories are Logan/Kurt as lovers, but others portray them as just friends. It's the most comprehensive list of stories that I've found.

A cute "blast from the past" as they say, but I found it to come across as being forced or just kind of thrown in there a bit haphazardly.

It just sort of seemed like it was tossed in there for good measure to set a point of similarity between Kurt Darkhölme and Kurt Wagner. I hadn't noticed any real chemistry between them in the UXF issues so far, unlike with Wagner and Megs in Excalibur. Darkhölme just didn't act like an arse to her, as opposed to the way he acted to everyone else.

Hmm. I wonder what Brian would feel about this. Kurt Wagner had a sense of honor that stopped him from chasing Meggan, but Darkholme might not be so disserning, then again AoA Kurt seems to be a bit oblivious in the sex department, probably too busy staying alive.

R.I.P Kurt Wagner <3
Doesn't seem it will be explored, at least for the moment. And yes, I agree that Darkhölme hasn't been shown in any of his depictions over the years as either flirtatious, fun or sensitive -- all things that had a lot to do with Kurt Wagner and Meg's past chemistry. (Meg essentially running to the opposite of the insensitive, churlish, boor that Brian could be in early Excalibur days.)
The closest Darkhölme has been shown to flirting was in X-Calibre #3, in a conversation with Damask.
[Damask: (talking about Avalon) This place is worth fighting for....I'm with you, if you want me]
[Kurt: (with a nasty smile) I'm willing to be convinced, but you should really ask my mom if I can come out to play]
Did anyone else find it weird that Brian called Kurt "Elf"? I don't recall him ever using that nickname during Excalibur's run...the only name that stands out in my memory is "blue furred goblin".
Chapter 2 is up, for any interested parties. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7953459/2/Kaliedoscope
Thanks Karl and Drelion!
Yes, I have the outline written out in my head already, barring the small details, which I add as inspiration comes (and those are susceptible to writer's block).
The gist of the story is what might have turned someone who had a naturally easy-going, thoughtful and compassionate disposition (aka Kurt Wagner) into someone like Kurt Darkholme, aside from just being raised by Mystique.
The material out there about him from his AoA world is sketchy at best. There is a page in the AoA handbook (page 20), and then a handful of depictions in the two previous arcs. It is canon that he was raised in isolation in Germany and and that his mother was frequently absent.
He lived that way until village extremists found out about him, kidnapped him and tried to kill him. Magneto, Raven and Pietro stepped in to rescue him, and it was the first time he saw his mother heading a bloodbath, which he didn't react well to. He was taken in by Eric after that and joined the X-Men, becoming a deadly agent of Eric's (apparently an assassin).
Given that Raven has probably always been what she is, I took a writer's liberty and decided that, at least when Kurt was young, she wouldn't have left him completely alone. I tried to come up with what she might have done to ensure the well being of her child.
As far as the CD? Maybe he's a man that reacts physically to emotions that intrude on his peace of mind.
I had fun writing Wade :) -- he's really grown on me as a character since I started reading UXF.
Sundowhn,
I don't recall that background info on AoA Kurt, but it sure sounds right. I've taken the liberty of copying it into my Kurt file, in case I need it for a subsequent story.
Interesting that you are taking the opposite view of Darkholme. I'm trying to show him being changed (only to a certain extent, of course. He'll never be Kurt himself.) by living in a less awful world than he's used to.
I figured you probably had a plot outline of some sort. I've seen fanfic stories that are posted chapter by chapter and it seems as if the writer has no idea where s/he is going with the plot, since it wanders all over the place. I generally have a plot in mind, but, as you mentioned, the devil is in the details.
I post mine on AdultFanFiction.net. Guess I'll have to join FanFiction.net so that I can comment on your writing. Have you read any other FF.net stories that you'd recommend, for me or for other readers?
As for Wade, you're tempting me to put him in one of my stories also. But not the current one. Maybe further on down the line.
As for the CD, I kind of thought that might be it, but wasn't sure. He seemed to be enjoying the music so much.
BTW, is there anything going on on the Marvel.com NC thread? I haven't gotten any notices of things being posted there lately and wondered if it had gone down again.
The background information comes from the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, AoA, 10th Anniversary. It was published around the revisit arc to AoA (2005). I think I put the page on Darkholme down in full on Nightscrawlers, under the thread AoA Nightcrawler (Darkholme) in Uncanny X-Force Teaser Image in the main Nightcrawler forum. I can attempt to scan it in, but don't know how well it will work as far as readability. The rest of what I'm using comes from X-Calibre and the 2005 6 issue revisit to AoA.
One of my favourite fanfic sites is http://lubakmetyk.infinology.net/excal.htm (Fonts of Wisdom). I'm not sure how much it is updated any longer, as it was originally based around the Excalibur run, Kitty Pryde specifically, but later got picked up by other writers. It still has a good bit of material on it with some talented writers. It ranges from tame or kid friendly ratings to mature.
As far as how I see Darkholme.....the first chapters have been focusing on the differences, but I'm not done yet. :)
I'm trying to stay true to what is actually canon about the character but still give him a logical personality evolution. I even did a little pseudo-psychological analysis of he and Wagner to help my thought process on it.We'll just have to see how it comes across.
Barring the details, the only thing I was still a bit stuck on as far as the outline was how I wanted it to end and I think I've made up my mind on that now.
He was enjoying the music, but he is a man who has remained sane even with everything he's seen and done by embracing anger and violence. As he said to Meg in UXF #22 "I fear this will put an end to any warm feelings you were suffering." If that makes sense?
The Marvel forums NC thread is dead again. /sigh
