It's Not Easy Being Blue: Nightcrawler Appreciation

I haven't posted anything for a while so... My current comics have been advertising that new X-Treme X-Men series to me, and it keeps making me think of this, which, whatever your feelings on Kidcrawler, is the cutest, saddest thing ever.

I mean shoot--if I was Scott and the adorable kid version of the guy I recently got killed was showing me his blood-stained Spider-Man lunchbox... That, and not when everything eventually goes wrong with the Phoenix Force, should be the moment of Scott's nervous breakdown. Damn you, Summers, and your sociopathic unfeelingness! :P

No kidding. He's probably just unfeeling because the poor child doesn't have pink hair and wings.

Kidcrawler looks cute, but in an interview the writer was billing his relationship with Howlett as a kind of replacement to the Wolverine Nightcrawler relationship. Nope, don't think so. How about we replace Cyclops or Wolverine in the 616 universe with 10 year olds instead?

I'm not an Evo fan, but yeah, the little fellow is cute.

HA! That hadn't even occurred to me. I'm just generally not a fan of kids as main characters. At the risk of having things thrown at me, I don't even care for Harry Potter.

Man, that was the first thing I thought of. But hey, we all have out priorities :P I'm 50/50 on kid characters; I don't really like HP either but I did like, say, Golden Compass (book, not movie). I'll probably give X-treme X-Men (why oh why are they resurrecting that name, I feel so sickeningly 90s typing it) a shot, but I'm not especially optimistic about it.

I'll take a look, but I don't see it as being one I'd enjoy, or one that will last beyond 12 issues. They're counting on Howlett/Wolverine to carry the title I expect, but the 616 Wolverine already saturates the X-Men titles. I don't see an AU book with a weak cast (Dazzler leading? I mean come on) doing especially well.

Well, you never know. Dazzler does tend to be a turn-off for some people, but it might end up working. That's how all comic books get started after all. Still...the disco-queen could be the swift end of the book if they don't have a strong supporting cast.

Theoretically, the other three might work as far as having roles covered. Howlett as the tough guy, Emma as the eye candy and probably the smart-ass, Kidcrawler covering the cuteness factor and comic relief. It has the main group dynamics in there. We'll just have to see what they do with it.

See, now there's an idea. We should take the ideas and personalities of the people that post here and roll them into a girl for him, then write a little romance that should have been. ;-)

Let's see the list so far:
She's a normal human, but open-minded.
She's got a quirky sense of humour and can appreciate his adventurous nature.
She's not over-bearing, but not a doormat either, rather she could give as good as she gets.
She's scrappy, but not unrealistically so.
Give her D-Rogue's out-spoken nature, Hammerman's analytical thoughtfulness, Drelion's playfulness (and borrowed use of her avatar), Jinx's sweetness, Karl's er...drive :D, and Indigo Lady's loyalty.

I started writing what was meant to be a novella length piece with an OC because I didn't think any of the X-Women at the mansion when I began writing it were a good match for Kurt. She was derived by studying some of the characteristics of Kurt's other women, and some of the ones listed (except she was also a mutant). Some of those characteristics were to develop in the course of story. I only just started posting Steel and Spindrift, when real life intervened and I never completed it.

As far as this the new X-treme X-men are concerned, I'm actually more interested in Captain Howlett than the 616 Wolverine. I say, kill off 616 Logan for a couple years and have this guy take his place.
I like Kid Nightcrawler, But I'd rather see our Kurt back. Enough with the alternate reality Nightcrawlers and Bamfs, already. You fucked up, Marvel. Now fix it. I want my favorite duo back! It's bad enough that AvX has held up whatever resolution we could of got from the "Bamf" sub-plot in W&TXM.
