Default Domestic Violence and the X-Men: Do the X-Women Need to Build a Shelter?

As you all know, Sage is currently the victim of repeated violence in the hands of CC.

This happens far too often to be a mere coincidence. Cupboard doors get the blame for 330,000 Injuries a Year. In the X-Line, violence against women is considered "enabling." It allows them to strut their stuff and enact revenge. Would Moira MacTaggart have become a machine-gun wielding maid if she hadn't suffered at the hands of Joe MacTaggart?

Would Mariko Yashida have ended up a kebab if she hadn't involved herself with Wolverine?

The cost of this storytelling device is immense. Sage isn't the only victim of constant humiliation.

What are your thoughts? Do you foresee the Sisterhood of Evil Mutants addressing this issue? Do you wish Emma and Storm would finally take some leadership on this issue, or do you consider them enablers? Should Xavier have had a zero tolerance policy on day one? Is this his fault?

I think Wolverine is the most often practicioner of domestic abuse....Mariko, Viper, hell he just jacked X-23 up onto a tree not to long ago. Stopping Wolverine must be our first step

Yes, I believe the X-Women are unjustly treated and need to find a way to keep themselves safe. Numerous female mutant and their friends have been needless victims in the male chauvenistic world that is X-Men. For example....

The mutant cook was killed, I believe by the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants led by Exodus. She was gintle and a non-combatant, but she was destroyed for no reason. Meggan is another good example. She lived with Captain Britain, who instead of accepting her for what she looked like forced her to stay in the form of blonder woman who would be his perfect mate! What a pig!

The most abused X-Woman though is by far....Opal Tanaka. The poor girl just wanted a date and all she got was crap from Iceman and a cold shoulder from the other X-Women who were jealous that she had Iceman all to herself.

It wasn't much better in the Age of Apocalypse, where Colossus trampled his beloved Katya.

Hell, why not throw in the time Deadpool beat the living hell out of Copycat in X-Force?

I object to this thread on the grounds that there is no poll and is clearly racist against misogynists everywhere.

That said, re: X-Factor images: That Jean Grey is a cheat! "I'll just take all 6 of you at once!" I'll bet you will...

I liked how Mariko still had all her fingers after cutting off a finger.

On a second note, maybe it's the women's fault. Day in and day out they decided to be surrounded by super-heroes, and a good number of the referenced women have been supers themselves. If you're going to take the risk of being beaten down you need to be properly trained. For example....

Emma Frost is a terrible X-Woman. She get's knocked out battle after battle, but she supposedly has a diamond hard form where she's impervious? Bull. She needs better training and better combat skills or she needs to quit the team. I am tired of having her bitch slap people in her diamond form and calling that skill. She has a flaw and her uneducated fighting style leaves that flaw wide open. Then there's her flank, which she clearly has no control over or sense of.

Women should be accountable for their own beatings, esspecially when there's a huge gym, olymplic pool, great mentors and the best training facility ever a their disposal.

You speak truth but what of those women with great skill such as Sage and Psylocke but still constantly get beat upon?

You should edit your message to say "but what of those women with great skill for women such as Sage, etc. etc."

No one denies their prowess. But, they are still only women. Thus, subject to domestic violence.

Even the X-Men's gentlest (is that a word. whatev) member has been caught in the act of abuse.

She's so ashamed that she can't even show her face.
