Default WW Chicago: Dynamite nabs "Judge Dredd"

The classic 2000 A.D. sci-fi satire comes back to America by way of Dynamite Entertainment with a new ongoing series by Garth Ennis and John Wagner. CBR spoke with Nick Barrucci about Dredd's return.

Dynamite continues to make some great choices in selecting licenced properties.I only wish the Thunderbirds were a bigger thing in the US.

I havent read Dredd regulary since the 80's. 2 years ago I tried to collect the 2000AD weekly but it was too expensive and there wasn't enough Dredd. I'll give this a shot but man, I'd love a Thunderbirds book. FAB!

No one asked but if Dynamite is looking for fan interest in other character licences, how about Tarzan, Green Hornet or the Shadow ? Please!?

This could be cool. I'm not a huge fan of Judge Dredd, but I'll check it out for an issue or two...

Since Rebellion already has a very good trade paperback reprint program in place, with two books a month released on far better paper than most companies use for their trades and nice matte covers, I am questioning the need for another line of reprints. Their main site is down right now, but 2000 AD's books site is up, and everything there can be ordered through the shop and through Amazon, Forbidden Planet, etc.

Lupek, part of the joy of 2000 AD and the Megazine being anthology books is that many of the other stories are set in Dredd's universe and build up the world around many other characters with whom Dredd sometimes interacts, with Anderson: Psi Division and Devlin Waugh dealing with the occult and paranormal, and Low Life and The Simping Detective dealing with undercover and organized crime.

But even those stories not set in Dredd's world are still certainly worth checking out, with many of them being truly spectacular comics, criminally underlooked and underappreciated by audiences. I'm starting to wonder if I can afford all of these new series that Garth Ennis seems to be writing,

I just hope they keep the variant covers to a minimum the way they've done with The Boys.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.

If this can lead to regular US distribution for the Judge Dredd Complete Case files books, that would be great. They are really nicely done, similar in format to the Marvel Essential or DC Showcase books, but with a bit better paper. I've found a couple, one about $20 bucks and the other $25 and they are excellent.

They definitely would make a good book to have out next to a new Dredd book.
