Default Want to read some Avenger stuff, what should I start with?

    So as the title says,

I would like to start reading some Avengers stuff, I got a interest in it after I saw Iron Man 2. All I know about the avengers is what I saw in Marvels movie. So any good trades to read to hook me on the serie? I would like something where I wont be completly lost.

Anybody can help me with this please?

    Thanks!
    Breach

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes vol I and II

(also the show of the same name, even if the two are unrelated)

Great way to get up to speed with the classic stories without having to read 50 years of back issues or getting stuck with the horrible Ultimate universe.

I really did not like Silver Age writing, however Avenger 16 through Kree-Skrull War (which ends around 98 or so) was really enjoyable. Yes, the dialogue is a little hokey, and there are some really bad issues and plot devices, but the books are fun.

I'd also add the trade called Avengers Forever with plotting and scripting by two well known Avengers writers Kurt Busiek and Roger Stern with art by Carlos Pacheco. You get a lot of history thrown in there along with the main story.

Avengers Volume 3...aside from Chuck Austen, some of the best Avengers stories ever written.

For you: there's been a few collections like "Avengers: Origins" and "The Marvels Projects" and lots of other jumping on points and loose-ends TBPs and One Shots explaining the history and mystery of all of our favorite Marvel homies. Bendis's ideas are great but his dialog and overall delivery sucks. There's movies coming out and crazy ass comic stories that we don't even know about coming along so just sit back and get hooked on it. The 90's are over and Marvel knows how to cross it ALL over so let's all just see what happens!

Default Avengers (where to start? what run is worth reading?))

Confused about all the different avengers titles currently running. I want to read stories about iron man, thor and cap as the core avengers group i also like black panther and hawkeye. but i have no idea where to start so i understand whats going on currently and which runs are really good right now that i shouldn't be missing

I'd prefer the main three heros with whom ever else, id rather not have the youngins be the main focus in trades or the current runs.

I know they "re-numbered" the main series but is that the best one to be reading right now? and what trades are necessary for understand this run?

any help would be great thanks.

I can tell you which trades to look. For a classic lineup of Cap, Thor,Iron man and Hawkeye I would check out Busiek and Perez run The Avengers. Black Panther appears later on in the run. For a more modern take you can also try Bendis's The Avengers in the Herioic Age trade.

My Heroes For Hire: Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, The Falcon, Ant-Man (Scott Lang). White Tiger IV and Powerman would be interns.

The Big Three (Cap, Iron Man and Thor) and Hawkeye currently appear together in (adjectiveless) Avengers, though I'm one of those who think Bendis (the writer) doesn't understand the team and characters at all, and would advise strongly against it.

I think you're far better off looking for Kurt Busiek's Avengers Assemble, vol. 1 (http://www.amazon.com/Avengers-Assem...7782226&sr=8-9), which features a very classic Avengers lineup with the characters actually written correctly and facing threats that are worthy of the Avengers.

Default Need a current Avengers/New Avengers and Batman series to add to my current pull list

Yes, I realize that Batman is DC, but I'm still asking the question here in the marvel thread.

I've never cared for Batman or the Avengers, but I'm considering adding a title to my pull list so I can at least check out a new series. Any suggestions.

    My current pull list is:
    amazing spider man
    silver surfer (mini-series)
    batgirl
legion of super-heroes (end reading after villains story arc)
the flash (canceled after issue 12?)
    new avengers

    And soon, it might become:
    amazing spider man
    batgirl
    venom
    avengers
    new avengers
    venom
(may include batman, jsa, jla, or other title)

I need help with a suggestion for current Batman and Avengers/New Avengers titles to check out.
