It's only happening on my left shoe. I straighten them out, but the next morning it's the same way again. I don't have a cat, and the dog doesn't like shoes. The laces are never damp from doggy slobber, anyway.

Technically, there's only one lace per shoe; it's the left and right sides that are unequal. You need to unlace and relace the shoe.

Well I would say that it could be a shoe sales employee, but that only happens with the right shoe, at least at are store it does.

There's also that your feet are not the same size, most likely.
Very few people's are.
As I recall, left and right shoes aren't EXACTLY the same size either. But they help cover up the asymmetry.
