Nice cover on that Krigstein book.

This is a nice thread. For some reason, I've become obsessed with older comics, lately. It looks like most of the ones I'm waiting on people have already pointed out, but here's one I didn't see mentioned:
Captain Easy, Soldier of Fortune (1): The Complete Sunday Newspaper Strips 1933-1935

For a complete change of pace, I'm jazzed to have stumbled across a reference just now to the fact that the Essentials/Showcase Presents-like Harvey Classics' 5th volume, due out in a couple of weeks, is Harvey Girls, devoted to Little Dot, Little Audrey & Little Lotta.
Looking back, these tended to be my favorite Harveys by far as a kid (which is why I haven't bought any of the previous volumes, which respectively focused on Richie Rich, Hot Stuff, Baby Huey & Casper, though I liked those comics well enough), & offhand I think only a volume compiling Bunny, 'The Queen of the In-Crowd' would be neater. (It would also be hiiiiiighly unlikely, which is why I ordered 3 ishes from the series just last night from Mile High ...)
I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."
Basically, if you miss the wonder of a dog flying around in a little Superman cape, you're in the wrong hobby.

Apologies if these two have already been mentioned.

"Meanwhile, a puppy that fell down a storm drain on Proxima Centauri was rescued by a trained slith, which unfortunately then ate it. And now, sports."
Showcase Presents: Bat Lash
Due out in July, the book will reportedly include stories from Showcase #76, Bat Lash #1-8, Weird Western Tales #45-46, 52-53, and Jonah Hex #51-52. Interestingly, the listings also state that this Showcase will only be 240 pages (given the limited amount of material), making it by far the shortest Showcase volume.
They've solicited a couple of these "short" Showcases. There's also an Eclipso volume for August and at one time a Creeper volume which has since been cancelled or was prematurely on Amazon.
The Eclipso volume.

Interesting to see the Bat Lash collection listing for $9.99. With the usual online discount figured in, that could reduce the total cost to the same as a couple of issues of new Marvel crap.
I can definitely live with that.

Calling Dan Bailey, calling Dan Bailey.
If his Severin sense hasn't caught hold of this yet.
Fantagraphics has Squa Tront with Severin. Looks mighty sweet.
Yeah, I was on that one like a duck on a Junebug not long after it came out, as it happens. Of course, being ignorant in the ways of Diamond & the direct market at the time, my abhorrence of the idea of *choke* paying not only cover price but also shipping means I wasted several weeks trying to obtain it through a local shop before finally giving up & ordering straight from Fantagraphics ...
Very nice issue, though, & as far as I can tell it's probably the closest thing we'll ever get to any sort of study of Severin's career, at least while he's alive. Which baffles the complete hell out of me, but I've said as much before. If only he had drunk himself into hackdom or accepted Ayn Rand as his personal saviour, I guess he'd be infinitely more interesting ... (At least Dewey Cassell is apparently working on a book on Marie, which I would hope would include some stuff on John as well.)

The Blazing Combat collection by Fantagraphics has shown up on their site.
Is anybody else hyped about the Bloom County collections from IDW?
Noticed Blazing Combat again a little while back. Glad it's back on the schedule.
I'm not super hyped about Bloom County. Love the strip. My second favorite of the last thirty years and one of my all-time favorites. But I have all the paperback collections. And there is so darn many strip books coming out now that it has to take a back seat to Dick Tracy, Pogo (if it ever happens), Popeye, and a number of others that I don't already have.
I see the price is now closer to $30.00 for Blazing Combat. At one time it looked like it would be more like $20.00. Amazon still has it for under 16.49, and they are supposed to guarantee that price if it is pre-ordered.
Yeah, I've got them too, but the earliest strips were never reprinted, and there were tons of changes to the strips in the collections. Check out THIS SITE for some insight, as well as tons of unreprinted strips. (Navigating it's a bit of a bear, but it is worth it.)
