Oh, wow ... thanks for the heads-up! I didn't know about this at all!

As it happens, just a few hours ago I was trawling eBay in hopes of finding some cheapish BPRD that I don't have (probably about 1/3rd of the various minis). Over the last year or so I've bought 2 lots of the minis via that venue & quite liked them for pretty much the reasons you outline.

For some reason, I'm not quite as enamoured of Hellboy per se & so haven't really mounted any serious searches for his solo titles (all I've read is the first TPB).
I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."

I'm definitely up for Doom Patrol. I completely skipped out on the previous Archives, hoping for the arrival of the Showcase, and now its coming. Very nice.

And yes the Creeper and Bat Lash sound good as well. I'll just have to figure out how much duplicate material I have from those.

Doom Patrol! Bat Lash! You will be mine!

Creeper! ...maybe. How much of it is Ditko?

Aside: Did everyone enjoy the recent Bat Lash mini?

I did very much. Not only for the exquisite Severin art. But I thought Aragones and Brandvold also did a nice job on the script.

Great news about the Creeper showcase!

But that just gets me started on "books I'd like to see". I think DC should do their own version of "Marvel Visionaries". I'd love a Ditko book : Creeper, Hawk and Dove, Shade the Changing Man, Starman ...

And if they are going to reprint material from the infamous Cancelled Comic Cavalcade, then why not do both volumes as a Showcase ....

Me either. I have a run of Tomahawk from the late 6o's (as in the numbering, not the decade), but I'd love to have as many of those 40s and 50s stories collected as possible. I agree, though, Dan. It probably ain't gonna happen.

And where, oh where is Rex the Wonder Dog???

While doing the comic order today, I signed myself up for Fantagraphics's upcoming Boody: The Bizarre World of Boody Rogers and Supermen, their collection of early super-hero comics by Will Eisner, Jack Cole, Basil Wolverton, Fletcher Hanks, and many more. I can't find any pictures of them, and I couldn't find them on the FBI website... but I swear, I'm gettin' 'em.

This one came out earlier this month. But wanted to put the plug in since Scott is such a big fan.

I hope the Saunders book has some of the funny stuff he did for Topps. Don't know if I'm in for the Finlay book--already have a couple books on him--but he's definitely worth looking at. His draftsmanship's great, but I'm more fascinated by the concepts and composition in his illustrations.

Pogo: The Complete Daily & Sunday Comic Strips, Vol. 1: Through the Wild Blue Wonder by Walt Kelly (Hardcover - Nov 30, 2009)

Skin Deep by Charles Burns (Paperback - Aug 30, 2009)

Fire & Water: Bill Everett, the Sub-mariner, & the Birth of Marvel Comics by Blake Bell (Hardcover - Jul 30, 2009)

The EC Archives: Tales From The Crypt Volume 4 by Bill Gaines, Al Feldstein, Ray Bradbury, and Jack Davis (Hardcover - Jul 12, 2009)

Justice League International Vol. 2 SC by Keith Giffen, J M Dematteis, and Kevin Maguire (Paperback - Jul 7, 2009)

Sandman by Kirby and Simon by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon (Hardcover - Jul 7, 2009) No mention of the content but I guess their 40s and 70s work on the Sandman.

The Creeper volume and the Bat Lash volume will be shorter (296 pages and 240 pages respectively) since all material after 1977 is off limits due to copyrights matters. So the list will change.
