I love you, Deadhead..
You better not screw this up, Way.

I hated his portrayal of Deadpool in Wolverine Origins. In fact, it was what finally prompted me to drop that book from my list. I'm willing to give this a shot, in part because I really like Paco Medina and in part because I love Deadpool. But I'm very skeptical of this based on his appearance in Wolverine Origins.
I didnt like his Deadpool in Origins either. From his interview he is going to focus on his crazy, sigh... wished more writers focued on his badass. And also wished they did like THE writer for this series did (Kelly) and add a slight touch of darkness in his character.
I remain ambivalent about Way writing Wade. I did like his two Bullseye minis, but Deadpool's my favorite character, so the stakes are a lot higher here.
Paco's art will at least lead me to pick up the first issue. Maybe the first arc. After that, well, we'll see.

I'm going to give Way the benefit of the doubt. It was actually Dillon's art that turned me off during the most recent Origins arc, not Way's writing (which wasn't that bad, honestly). Paco Medina is one of my favorite artists, and the preview looks great. I'm glad they're finally trying to put Wade into a bigger spotlight.
I actually think Way is the worst writer Marvel has on their payday so this whole situation is kind of nerve wracking.
This new ongoing isn't going to be like Origins, it can't survive on the title character's name alone despite the writing.
Even if "Deadpool" is good, the fact that Deadpool is the best B character ever made aside, the fact remains that is what he is for the time being and he has alot working against him.
If Marvel lets Wade have a decent several year run like Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk have despite their sales, I'll be happy though, even if it ends up getting cancelled.
As long as Joe Kelly or someone else takes over the reigns before that day comes.

I'll buy the first issue at least for Paco Medina's art alone.![]()
This is going to tank. And then Way can move to DC...
The only experience I have with Way is the Deadpool arc in Origins and the Bullseye vs Punisher mini. What I can't stand about his writting is that by the time I finish an issue, it feels like nothing of importance happened and it leaves you unsatisfied and hungry for more (not in a good way). Also, his pool-o-vision idea is absolutely stupid and does not fit into Deadpool's character.
Seriously, out of all the comments I've read online, I can't find anyone who's actually excited about Way as the new writer.

You know how sometimes a network will move a show into a bad timeslot just so they can have an excuse to kill it off?
Thats what this feels like.

All i hope is they dont kill off the series when they see how bad Way is with the series. If there is a new writer, whoever it is im all over this.
Otherwise it might take another decade until next DP comic :(
Pull List:

American Vampire,Animal Man,Swamp Thing
Daredevil, Winter Soldier,Indestructible Hulk
Paco Medina's art is a big BIG plus, but i'm still not sold on Way's writing, I put down his Deadpool appearance in Wolverine Origin in disgust in the store so hopefully their is a big change in his writing or at least a new writer in the near future (please Gail, Fabe or Joe!)

Actually while Origin is not his best work I think Daniel Way is perfect for Deadpool, especially for his dark humour.
I'm surprised Steve Dillon is not on board, however.
