    Default Immortal Weapons Podcast

Fist Fans! Marvel.com has a pod cast up with Editor Warren Simmons and writer Duane Swierczynski talking about the upcoming Immortal Weapons miniseries. It's definitely worth listening to the whole thing if you are a Fist fan, but here's some highlights:

Iron Fist isn't going anywhere. Danny will return in his own series when the mini wraps up.

The back ups written by Duane with Art by Travel Foreman are picking up from the end of issue 27 and telling one long story as the back up in the mini series. He calls it an unofficial 28th issue that is super sized. Danny is back in New York and will be getting involved with a problem one of his students at the Thunder Dojo is having.

Kung Fu Billonaire: Danny may be losing one of those three words that describe him so well.

Duane said his run has been building up to some of the moments we will see in issue 27 and in the back up story featured in Immortal Weapons.

Duane and Warren talk about Danny as a character and his personality. A little naive, kind of a big kid, genuinely just wants to do good, sincere heart. Not really one of these gritty anti heroes. Warren didn't want to call him dumb, but "wide eyed" is the term used. Searching for his place in the world. His horrific origin hasn't affected him and made him bitter.

Rick Spears writing Dog Brother Number One issue.
Duane is writing Tiger's Beautiful Daughter issue, with Corey Evans on art.
David Lotton is writing the Price of Orphans issue.

Yeah it was a good insight into what's coming ahead, definetly more excited for the limited series now that we have all the creators for the various issues:

    Fat Cobra:
-Jason Aaron with Mico Suayan, Roberto De la Torre, Stefano Gaudiano and Micheal Lark

    Bride of Nine Spiders:
    -Cullen Bunn and Dan Brereton

    Dog Brother #1:
-Rick Spears and Timothy Green (who provided some awesome art in #21)

    Tigers Beautiful Daughter:
-Duane Swierczynski and Khari Evans (who did work on #7 and the Daughters of the Dragon mini a couple years ago)

    Prince of Orphans:
-David Lapham (Brilliant writer/artist from Stray Bullets, Young Liars, Detective Comics and the Daredevil/Punisher mini)

I really like where Duane is going with the story in 27 +the backups, I think after all these mystical stories, we needed a breather and to see Danny in a more street level setting, being more like the super-hero he is, can't wait to read it!

I couldn't make out the name of the writer on Orphans when I heard the podcast. Lapham is a great writer, I really enjoy Stray Bullets.

    Default Incredible Line-up of Talent

Timothy Green II will hopefully be one of Marvel's Young Guns in 2010. His work on the Starlord mini during Annihilation Conquest was outstanding. I have been hoping he would get more work. I don't know if he is slow or just taxed with outside obligations.

It seems that Marvel are really trying to push the Immortal Weapons, here we have a free sketchbook with words from the various writers about tackling their respective characters and a worded preview of Fat Cobra's issue! Looks awesome.

I hope he gets more work too, he's a fantastic artist. I would of thought he'd be a perfect fit to do some of the Marvel 2099 stuff thats coming out.

Listened to the podcast earlier today. Glad it confirmed what a lot of us thought, that IF isn't canceled and will be picking up after the mini. Sounds like Duane will be back as well. Stoked!

They need to offer that sketchbook as a free sampler for the shops. Those teases from the writers are great.

Seems like a logical match-up that could make a great story. For that reason it probably won't happen.
