Iron Fist Appreciation

I'm wondering what's going on at Marvel with their thinking on Iron Fist. He was getting a really big push, what with his inclusion in video games and the Spider-Man cartoon, he seemed to be building up momentum, and then... nothing. Is it simply that Bendis and Fraction's recent lackluster takes on the character have killed enthusiasm for him? Does it have to do with The Man with the Iron Fists coming out and killing the brand-name for Marvel's movie plans? Is it the white costume?

Still, I've got to say I'd rather we had to wait until someone enthusiastic to write Danny comes along than have Danny forced on a writer (and super-team) that doesn't want him or know how to write him.

That is a conundrum. what would you rather have? Danny in a team book and barely used as Bendis made him mostly wallpaper that gets beaten by Wolverine in a sparring match or Danny not being used at all. I for one would rather him be used and have a cool moment or two in a run.

It seems that not many writers have any love for Danny? Look at the sheer number of team books in the Marvel line up and not one has Danny in its line up. It is so depressing.

Well if Marvel does a mystic book I think he would be a good fit there.

Iron Fist/Danny Rand is a character that I have followed since his creation.

My favorite era for the character was the first few years worth of "Power Man and Iron Fist". Near the end, the title just suffered creatively.

I wouldn't mind seeing a relaunch of the character as a solo star again, but still have him interact with Luke Cage.

Tomorrow's episode of Ultimate Spider-Man will be an Iron Fist episode titled "Journey of the Iron Fist".

Spider-Man travels to the mystical city of K’un L’un to help Iron Fist fulfill his destiny. But The Scorpion plans to destroy them both.

It's interesting to note that this Scorpion is a reimagining of the classic Spidey villain, presumably now a foe for Iron Fist.

I was excited to see Iron Fist return to K'un L'un only to be sorely disappointed. There was no Thunderer, no Steel Serpent, and Danny has to go back for some silly test to be *****spoiler******

It was as if Danny was Black Panther or something. They barely focused on the Iron Fist mythology. And the Scorpion as the villain was really a lame hacking of Mortal Kombat. As I said it was really disappointing. I was really looking forward to seeing Lei Kung and Davos, not some cheesy written bad Asian martial arts movie rip off of a script.

That USM episode sounds painful to watch if you're an Iron Fist fan. Honestly, they did away with everything cool about his origin and replaced it with a quest to become king and a Scorpion Mortal Kombat ripoff? Loeb. Marvel. You've outdone yourselves. Honestly. Smh.

There's nothing that makes me want to rip my eyeballs out more than Ultimate Spider-Man's portrayal of Danny. He's voiced like a yoga instructor, not a badass martial artist. And his scenes usually suck. Scared to watch this episode.

In other news, I'm sure you all saw this, so apologies if it's old news. Axl says Danny will indeed be part of Marvel Now! Phase 2:

Alonso: Iron Fist will play a part of our second wave of Marvel NOW! titles, rman1418, but I won’t elaborate whether he’ll fly solo or function as part of a team or duo.

I have been catching up with Daredevil over the last few weeks. Its a shame we didnt get to see Danny or Luke in the mini crossover, it would have been a nice fit.
