The logo for this new series is fantastic. I really think this book is going to do very well.

Marvel could really afford to clean up it's pseudo-Arthurian backstory. They not only have Avalon & Otherworld, but there's also the Knights of Pendragon and the Dragon Circle. Hell, even Alan Moore couldn't straighten out Merlin completely....

    I blame Claremont.

Great interview. Glad to see Tink will turn up, pleased to see confirmation of Union Jack (Cornell even quoted the "amicably" line from the miniseries!) and the one and only Captain Midlands!!!

Love the artwork too. Look at Tink's badass battle armour. Look at the Skrull hordes. Look at the cyclopes, satyrs, unicorns and other mythical beasts of Avalon.

I love it all. I hope this series reaches 100+ issues. And Black Knight fanboys, if you ever needed confirmation that this whole Ebony Blade fiasco will be straightened out, this is it. Mentioning Dane and continuity one after the other? Oh yes.

Is this series meant to be an ongoing? Awesome! I thought it was just a Secret Invasion related mini-series. I've been on an extremely limited budget so it's been quite a while since I made an impulse buy, but I picked up issue one and started reading it in the store and I was hooked. I'm thrilled by the voice he's given Black Knight and Cap especially, and John is wonderful (I hadn't read the Wisdom series). It looks like Cornell's got all of Marvel UK at his fingertips, and he's the perfect man for the job.

Yep. It's a relaunch of New Excalibur by another name (and thankfully it looks more like Wisdom than Excalibur).
When readers first meet Faiza in “Captain Britain and MI:13” #1, she’s just an ordinary human doctor, but in her final scene in the issue, she’s blasted by a Skrull device that will turn her into something extraordinary.
"Damnit, R'Krlt, I said "kill her", not "turn her into a superhero who will be instrumental in our defeat!"

Now THIS was an awesome Secret Invasion book!!

The Skrulls finally revealed to be the super-dangerous foes they were supposed to be!!

And MI:13 must take extraordinary action to protect their Queen and country!!

Sweet the preview shows Faiza with the reflection of a sword in her eye. I'm pretty sure that means she's getting Excalibur, does that mean the sword chooses her and saves her life?

From the interview it sounded like the blast might have given her her powers, so I can't wait until next month to see what's next.

Also did not expect Tink so soon. Cool.

This might have been the best read of the week for me. The cast is great. These aren't characters you see in every book as it is and Cornell makes them all shine. Great art. If this is ongoing, keep this same team on it. Hopefully it works in the long run.

Me too, really. Before Excalibur Otherworld was a fluid entity. The idea was that it took it's form from the collectuve 'British Consciousness' so all those myths and legends were REAL there. It also played a 'chicken or egg' card of which came first - did the Britons think up the myths, or did Otherworld present them to them, at times.

It allowed a fast and loose way of using elements of legend people wanted to.

Claremont tried to stylise it, removing a lot of elements which had been written before him, and making Otherworld just this big castle with Roma in it. I'm just so happy Cornell is playing with the true concept, more.

I saw that as the likely plan all along. I think she's going to merge with the sword itself. And that could be really cool. I think if anybody embodies modern Britain it's Faiza, and the idea of her becoming their greatest weapon is an interesting prospect.

I'm really happy to see her! Although, I don't think she's likely to do them many favours - purely because her Husband's there with them...

The destiny of Cornell’s team also includes encounters with fellow British heroes Captain Midlands aka Sid Ridley and Union Jack aka Joe Chapman.
    Hooray! :)

Yay! Tink got a mention and it's ought not be that long before she shows up!

I really, really (really!) hope we get to see the Raven kid again in this series. I never read Killraven, but I was aware of it, and I really loved how the Wisdom series played with possible future "Killraven" events. And I believe that a scrapped plotline in Widsom had the kid sending out a psychic link to the "Martians" - maybe that'll happen in CB & MI13?

-Pav, who also just thinks it'd be great to see Pete having to raise a kid...
