WTF? I'm pretty sure I posted this thread about a few minutes ago...


I recently reread this one and I think it's a really great mini! I'm not sure if they can make a sequel and I'm not sure there is a point in one. Any thoughts?

I'm not a great fan of "alternate universe stories" as I feel that they are inclined to rethread paths which are already much threaded, only with a "What If" type of premise which gives the writers freedom to kill everyone they want

This having been said, "Powerless" was a very interesting take on three Marvel characters: tight writing, appropiately dark art. I'd say it's recommended read for anyone who likes Spidey, Wolverine, Daredevil or the Punisher and like to see a different (that is, non-superpowered) approach to the characters. I particularly liked the premise that, in spite of lacking superpowers, the characters could be as heroic as their 616 universe counterparts: or more heroic, if you consider that they are ordinary humans.

My only complaint, being a Daredevil fan, was to see that DD characters like Matt Murdock, Karen Page or Foggy Nelson's existences were wretched above average (the other characters at least have a chance which these DD characters don't have)

I guess DD's life could not be stand by a real guy. I find it tragic that he died in the end, but I think that if things like that were taking place in the real world, this could be the outcome.

Castle was not much different though, he doesn't have powers, either way, but he worked perfectly. It was nice that he didn't start a killing frenzy. I think it was realistic.

I really liked this mini-series a lot. Interesting premise, good execution, neat cameos. As mostly a DD fan, I took the ending so hard I kept thinking about it for hours after I was done reading, which says quite a bit considering it's an AU kind of story.

I think the characterizations where really good all around. Different, but close enough so you felt that they were, in spirit, the same characters. I had some issues with the whole Matt and Karen shooting up together thing (and some of the self-pity aspects generally...), but other than that I thought the whole set-up was really good.
