Sorry Jed, although some of your D list love has rubbed off on me, I will never appreciate Maggot.

Were Emplate's Hellions supposed to be the same age as the Gen X kids? I thought they were older.

I don't know. They just didn't seem like kids to me. I never saw much of Emplate's Hellions anyway. My collection of Gen X comics is mainly in bits and pieces (So sue me. I had no comic shop during most of its run).

Ah. Finally. I knew there was an appreciation thread out there somewhere.

Were there any character developments during Generation X that you didn't care for? I never particular cared for Synch using Chamber's powers for flight. I could understand using it to blast himself into the air, but not actual flight itself. It just seemed kind of excessive. Thankfully it never went anywhere.

well chamber is(or was) a being of pure psionic energy so its not out of question that synch could fly with his powers

I guess it was more of a case of Synch looking silly using Chambers powers that way. I know it would have certainly been weird to see Chamber using his powers that way in his state at the time.

I hated how Skin became a total idiot later in the run before Wood. He was a snarky bad-ass that smoked cigararettes and ran with gangs before his mutantity came.

Then during Hama and Fabeear's runs, he was all like Anthony Anderson in any film, annoying and lame. Thanks goodness for Wood and Ellis.

There's four definite Gen X artists for me. Bachalo>Pugh>Dodson>Grummet.

Why I ranked Pugh before Dodson? Because Pugh could actually draw teenagers and Dodson was still stuck in pin-up pose drawing (which is a style people can appreciate but doesn't really work in a teen-centric book).

Crossovers that worked the best? The second Gen 13 crossover by James Robinson and Salvarado Larocca.

Crossovers that failed? The New Warriors. FORCED.

Agreed for the most part. I did think Hama gave Skin a bit of an edge over Faerber's portrayal. Of course, it's hard to notice much of what was good about his run due to the excessive amount of bad that there was.

Skin also had the problem of his powers being portrayed like "Mr. Fantastic." I think for the most part the artists got it right, but during Dodson's run he seemed to do that a lot.

Having just reread all of the Hama issues, I'd say the theft storyline with the town kids was pretty good. Of course it's hard to look at his run and not think of the M debacle and Snow W...or righy, Bianca LaNeige. He actually had some nice character moments and brief bits of good story, but they were just bits in the larger bad storylines.
