Lots of the AoA characters were cooler.
I like AoA Kitty too. A chain-smoking blech blonde with claws. A blonde X-23 who couls walk through walls was what she was.

I liked Generation X, I got the first 8 issues, where the art just looked great, and all 4 parts to generation next. though i dont have many issues, the art was great, and thanks to the internet, so were the stories.

too bad where all the characters went. i liked wanda before Decimation, but now I wish that spell was reversed

I was a big fan of the series. To me Generation X represents many things - The only book Scott Lobdell has ever written I've ever liked, possibly Chris Bachalo's most coherent and interesting work, and probably the last time I think Emma Frost was truly written in character.

I think that the book lost it's way after Bachalo left the book, but for a good long while it was a truly brilliant book. I feel so incredibly cheated by how badly Marvel have allowed the characters to be treated since.
Amen to that. They need to collect this stuff.

Is Generation X still in continuity?

I thought they retconned it out of existence, with the characters that did show up in other titles being treated like completely new characters. I thought the official stance was "Generation X never happened".

Gen X happened. And it was wonderful.

Gen X characters post-Gen X also happened. They were not so wonderful.

it seems to be how Marvel feels. I'll note that in the recent New Warriors issue where Jono tells Jubilee that he trusts her b/c she is the closest one to him on the team, they never actually mention "Generation X" by name or that they were in a prior junior team(just that theyve been long time friends). I dont think Gen X was ever mentioned in the Loners series that Penace was in either(but Im not sure about that b/c I didnt read it).

and has there ever been a instance where Emma mentions Gen X throughout her history after the book ended? What about Monet in X-Factor? I havent heard that there's been.

Certainly someone at the top reins of Marvel doesnt have much love for the book...

Well when Geoffrey Wilder was impersonating Jono(while he was with Excelsior/the Loners) Victor Mancha identified Chamber as a former member of Generation X.

It wasn't an X-book, but at least BKV referenced it.

In real life Generation X is old! So as far as Marvel is concerned the less references to that term the better.

The sliding timeline isn't really a friend to the younger X teams, because with one or two exceptions the main X Men have to remain in that late 20's age bracket.

It's not all doom and gloom though. When Gen X finished, M was the prime candidate for a one way ticket to oblivion with her clusterfuck of a backstory. But after a few years in limbo, she's quietly been aged up to the New Mutants/X force level. And now she's a player. Jubilee and Chamber might have seen better days, but at some point both could become relevant again. Jubliee has too many ties to the main team to disappear forever and whilst most people hate what has happenend to Jono, tieing him to Apocalypse (who'll be back at some point) means he has a reason for writers to bring him back if they want to.

New X Men. Now there's a team that's really screwed. Because in about 5 years or so Marvel's gonna get the urge to create a whole new batch of teen mutants, like they've done for the last 3 decades. And while it's difficult but not impossible to to age Gen X. It's going to be really hard to age Surge and co. Laura will be ok though. Probably.

When Banshee died Monet mentions how he was like a father to her, so it was referenced in that regard.

Monet also talked about the time she was Emplate's prisioner. So yeah, Generation X happened and it's still referenced.

I wonder if New Warriors is going to be announced as canceled soon.

They lost their artist and an announcement for the replacement never came...
