I've been warned to go any futher than the first fifteen issues or so, but I've seen how a lot of these characters have turned out (depowered or dead), and it makes me said. It seems like Marvel was killing off anything related to the 90s to save face, even when they were destroying great stuff such as Generation X.
You can enjoyably go to about issue 31 or so. Pretty much skip anything by Larry Hama. I personally didn't enjoy Faerber that much, but some did. I thought Brian Wood's run was going somewhere, but then it all ended.

Issues 1-6 and 17 through 22 are fantastic. Scott Lobdell and Chris Bachalo tear it up in those issues! I'd say 25 through 31 aren't terrible because Bachalo is still driving most of that. Other than that its VERY hit or miss.

If you can get your hands on the Genx 1/2 from San Diego ComicCon, that ones also great.

The Generation X series was the pinnacle of comics for me back in the day. Jubilee has always been my favorite character (she's what got me into Marvel to begin with), and when she moved to GenX I quickly fell in love with the other characters as well. I was absolutely heartbroken when the series was cancelled, but I'd have to agree that Hama didn't do the book any justice.

At least I have New Warriors to fall back on (for now), even though neither Jubes nor Jono are anything like what they used to be.

I really miss all these kids.

Im hoping this version makes an appearance in the new Wolverine & the X-Men series.
though with my luck it will proabably be the NW version as Apoc's nephew or something. 9_9

You know what I find interesting about Generation X? For that specific "generation" of X-Men, it's pretty much only those eight characters.

    Allow me to elaborate.

The original "next generation of X-Men" was the New Mutants. But it wasn't just the New Mutants. There was also Kitty Pryde, the Hellions, the X-Factor trainees (sometimes called the "X-Terminators") and the occasional Fallen Angel.

For the most recent generation, there was largely the characters created by Defillipis and Weir, and there were a whole lot of them to begin with. But there were also Morrison characters and Whedon characters and even characters created by the likes of Claremont, Milligan, Austen and others that would get slipped in.

For the '90s, the next generation of mutants was largely just Generation X. I suppose you could also count Gaia who was only on the team for about five minutes and maybe some of the guys who worked for Emplate were still in their teens, but I don't know. By comparison, it's really a rather small group, and unfortunately it runs the risk of getting smaller (hopefully, it won't in the near future).

I dunno if calling the Gen Xers a "generation" to themselves is really apt though... they're so close in age to the other groups, it's really more continuous age wise. At best they're in the exact middle but even that isn't really accurate (Jono's the same age as Dani/Sam/James, Pagie/Ev/Monet are the same age as Rhane, Jubes is the same age as the elder N/YXM).

They were called Generation X because it was the early/mid 90's and that was a buzz word of the day. If they were created even a few years earlier they would have been "New Mutants on the Block" or something.
Kids, if you want to impress your date, remember it’s “a dog-eat-dog world,” not “a doggy dog world.”

Okay, what I meant is this:

Every decade, there's a new group of young characters introduced into the X-Men. However, there are also a whole lot of young characters coming in from side groups in both the '80s and the '00s. In the '90s, they didn't have all the side characters coming in. They just had Generation X. I guess that during the '90s, Marvel was more interested in creating new mysterious, badass, time-travellers or something.

    Get what I mean?

They're pretty good. The writer, Brian Wood, doesn't exactly write my favorite interpretation of Jubilee (I think he plays the whole "mallrat" thing kind of over-the-top). Otherwise, it's pretty good stuff.

Probably my favorite run after Lobdell and Bachalo (but waaaay after). Much better than the tripe that came before.

I liked how it was diffeent than your average x team, The had an asian, a Hispanic, 2 seemingly black kids, A brit, and a country girl, and these kids were just a lil older than me and seeing a lil diversity amoung the xmen was cool....it was just the generic team with a token minority on there

you could tell that not all of them were best friends, that they were just trying to learn to use thier powers....I dont know it just felt real to me...anyone else knows what im talking about?

    gah! I love Gen X.

The Gen Next story was prolly my favorite. It spotlighted the kids I loved the best Vincente and Mondo. Both rumored to have been on the radar to truly join Gen X, but it never happened in 616. Boo, to that. I'd love to hear Lobdell and Bachalo's original plans for them.

Did anyone else kinda dig Gregor spoilers:
    (The Phalanx impostor)
end of spoilers (I know the chance of this is miniscule!) and Clarice?(likely better!) I really wanted both of them in the book too. LOL. I kept hoping that spoilers:
    the real!
end of spoilersGregor would pop up. It's gotta just be me. *tears*

so hip hip hooray for the team that brought us Vincente and Mondo and Cordelia Frost along with the core Gen Xrs that I lurved.
