Husk & Chamber are both appearing in next week's Legacy so maybe we'll get some interaction there.

How is everyone feeling about the return of 616 Blink? She seems different to me. Not like her AoA counterpart, or her previous 616 appearances.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.

My feelings on Blink are complicated. Original AOA Blink was awesome, but really didn't connect with watered down Exiles Blink. 616 Blink after Necrosha seemed more like AOA Blink, but recent Blink finally seems like she has her own identity finally (as manic as it may seem). It's a radical departure from her pre-Gen X days, but not fully beyond explanation. As much as I love AOA Blink, I welcome a new take and find her to be refreshing in a world full of brooding mutants.

    How about you?

I think AoA is what made Blink popular and they should have just brought her to 616 earth.

Agreed, I could fully back that. She would have been a great addition to Gen X. Would have even added a bit of conflict since she was so different from 616 version that (they thought) sacrificed her life for them. She would also have had a pretty difficult time adjusting to the 616 Earth since it's way more laidback than the AOA.

I've just re-read Gen-X #75 and was wondering if the contents of Jono's note to Paige are ever revealed? I assume it was just ignored as he went mingling with pop stars and she went chasing Angel..?

Don't know! That's something they could address in Legacy or WATXM sometime. I have a feeling it was along the lines of, "You're really special and I'll always care about you" without asking for romantic attachment, 'cos their relationship was caput at that point.

    ============

You might think this is dumb and that’s okay, I just got fed up with waiting for this to happen and thought I’d share. It’d be so easy…

    ===Resurrection Scenario===

    AVENGERS ACADEMY #50 – “Reunions”

The mysterious being known as Hollow works on an intricate shrub sculpture of a man.

“Penny!” a familiar, female voice calls.

Hollow’s ears perk up, and as she turns and runs, she inadvertedly slices the shrub man in half, sending the top half of the man flying helplessly through the air before falling to the ground.

    ---

There stands Vampire Jubilee and a pink-haired young woman known as Gaia. “I’d hug you, but, err…” Vampire Jubilee’s eyes trail back to the shrub statue of a half-man.

Smiling, Penny launches herself at Jubilee and very carefully hugs her, her arms crossed at the wrist while keeping her huge claws away from Jubilee. “Hugging… okay, that’s new,” Jubes remarks, confused.

“Let’s get straight down to business,” the pink-haired girl says, pressing Stop on the mp3 player strapped to her waist. “Penny, you saved me from an eternity of being alone, and now I’m here to return the favor.”

Jubes and Penny stare at Gaia in puzzlement.

“I’m going to bring your friends back to life, duh! Oh, and I brought Jubilee along because she wasn’t doing anything. Where were you all this time, anyway?”

    “Well, I--”

“Yeah, whatever. Let me do my thing. Now, I’m going to need some incense, scented candles, a crystal ball, and a Ouija board for this.”

“Huh? Where do you expect us to get--”

“Kidding! Reality warper here, remember? POW!”

Suddenly, three more people are standing there, in the clothes that they were wearing when they died.

    “Ev!” Jubilee exclaims, hugging Everett.

Meanwhile, Penny hugs the gray-skinned one, Angelo. “She hugs now?” Angelo asks, perplexed, as Penny turns her new hugging power onto Everett and Sean, each in turn. “Hey, no love for me, chica?” Angelo asks in Jubilee’s direction.

Jubilee looks awkwardly between Everett and Angelo, then says, “Of course!” while mischievously giving Angelo a noogie. “Ow!” Angelo exclaims. “Next time, do me a favor and forget I asked, huh?”

“Where are we? I’d guess California, possibly southern Italy,” Sean asks, “What’s goin’ on here? The last thin’ I remember…”

“You died,” Gaia interrupts, stealing a sad look in Everett’s direction before returning to her usual nonchalance, “But it’s cool, I fixed it. No need to thank me, I owed you one. I owed all of you one. I would’ve done it sooner, but I was on a little Pacific island none of you have ever heard of, soaking up the sun and sipping--”

“You raised the dead? What’s next, turning water into wine?” Angelo asks skeptically.

With an excited, gleeful look on her face, Gaia looks at Angelo and answers, “I can do that one, too!”

“Are you ever serious?” Angelo replies, stretching his hand to his forehead and shaking his head.

“Hey, man--” Gaia begins defensively, glaring at Angelo as a circular glass of water appearing in her hand, “--water--” the liquid turns burgundy as she quickly downs it in one gulp, “--wine.”

“Jubes, are you okay? You look a little pale,” Everett asks, concerned.

“Oh. Yeah. I kind of died and became vampire.”

“You died?!” Everett asks at the same time Angelo asks, “Una vampire?!

“I need to talk to Terry. If she thinks I’m dead… But first, I have to make sure ye kids are safe here.”

“We already died; what other shenanigans could we possibly get into?” Jubilee asks quizzically.

“Did you just pull a Juno?” Gaia asks, sounding impressed.

    “A what-o?” Everett asks.

“This… is going to take some work,” Jubilee says.

“Work? That’s my cue to leave. See ya!” Gaia says, putting on some shades that spontaneously appeared in her hand, pressing play on her mp3 player, and dancing away into the distance to “California Gurls.”

After a moment, with everyone watching her leave in silence, Sean asks, rubbing his chin, “She has nae gotten any more normal at all, has she?”

    “No.” Penny simply remarks.

Everyone turns to stare at her in shock, while Angelo asks, “She talks now? ¡Ay, caramba!

Haha, love it, best Gen X resurrection theory to date! And with double-shipping, AA #50 is only a year or so away, let's make it happen Marvel! Unfortunately they will probably say "Gaia who?" That chica gets no love...not even in this story. :P

Adore Penny's new "hugging power" also. ;D

    HUGGING POWER! \o/

    Lol, anyway, thanks. XD

And you'd think someone would at least thank Gaia, but nooooo. They're too busy reuniting and snarking.

But that's why Gaia reminds people on panel that she's a reality warper. So even if people don't know the character, they can quickly accept that she could make this happen. And I picked AA as the title for this to happen in because lately it seems like it's "that book wherein all the canceled characters guest-star," lol.

Its nicely written but it's a bit too easy, happily ever after, for my tastes.

I'm sure this won't make me a popular person here but I think Everett is better off dead. His power set was interesting in a time where mutants were relatively scarce and far less powerful then they are now, but unfortunately as time went on too many options were unlucked. With the ability to pick and choose the powers of those around him (without physical contact as well) things become too easy. I think it was pretty clear that Prodigy from the New X-men was an attempt at trying to make this kind of power set work in a non-key character (by which I mean not Rogue or Hope) but again, it proved too powerful so he got neutered, then made into wallpaper.

On the other hand I would love to see Skin return. His powers weren't remarkable though towards the end of the series he was doing some really clever and impressive things with them; his training with Banshee was amazing! His personality is also something that hasn't been replicated (at least not in anything I've read).

Personally, the only way I could see a continuation of the Generation X team would be for them to become a kind of Mutant Monster team. Jono always considered himself a monster, Jubes is now a Vampire, Penance is penance, if Paige loses control of her powers and winds up stuck in a non-human form (like Mutant X I think?) and then they find Skin in his Ghoulish Necrosha form. M would have to stay away because she was too perfect for the team anyway.

    Just a thought anyway.

The monster angle could be played up more with Banshee being a techo-organic zombie as well and Synch a ghost. I don't think Paige and M need anything done, they can be the more "normal" members. I would prefer Synch back over Skin. Having some sort of limitation or variation on his power, if he came back as a rainbow ghost thing initially, would help distance himself from Hope as well.

Thanks! Well, after 10 years, I'm ready for a happy ending-ish. ;D Wouldn't be a real ending, anyway, the characters would start appearing in X-books after that.

Your idea of a mutant monster team reminds me of an idea I had a while back of Generation X as a paranormal investigation team. The X-Books don't really have one of those. Jono, M, and Paige have vampire experience, Jubilee IS a vampire so that basically makes her an expert, Paige has ghost experience, Synch could come back as a ghost (just adding that now, as per alf's idea below), and like you said, Skin could be a ghoul; Penance and Jono are practically monsters themselves, etc., it'd be neat.

They should definitely bring back Synch's rainbow aura and learn how to use his powers as intended; it definitely set him apart from Hope and other power absorbing/miming/etc. mutants. :)
