Default Arthur & The Knights of the OK Corral: Sarkar talks "Calbier"

Radical's second title, "Caliber," retells the Arthurian legend as an American Western, with the Knights of the Round Table as gunfighters and Excalibur as magical six-shooter. Writer Sam Sarkar talked with us about the project,

While I'm a bit hesitant about the whole Western/Arthurian myth thing, I'm intrigued. I've been on an Arthurian kick lately thanks to the Chauvel/Lereculey series (enough to even buy a couple of issues of the deeply disappointing Merlin-series by Istin). And Western has always been one of my favourite genres.

It has an interesting concept and nice art...BUT....where are the words? I'm not a big fan of just art previews. I need the words & the art. A book can have really good art and not-so good story. Wish this preview had had its words...

The week of release we'll unveil lettered pages of issue #2 for you to check out. CBR ran a lettered page preview of issue #1 of Hercules last week with the first 11 pages and Newsarama had a similar preview of Caliber. For $1 and 31 pages of interior story, it's definitely a worth checking out issue #1 of Caliber to see if it's your thing.

Sorry, but if I want to read a concept cribbed from Stephen King, I'll buy it from Marvel where it's at least authorized and approved by King himself.

This series looks to be a more interesting and faithful adaption of the Authurian Legend in an Old West setting. King's version seems to be little more than backstory to the current Dark Tower setting.

I did an Arthurian Western about a year ago as a short story for my Creative Writing class. If you'd like to read it, check it out here. Thanks!

Will give it a look in the store. Might buy. Love the art.

I know the economy is in the dumps, but at one dollar this is worth a try of anybodies money.

What next? The Arthurian legend retold samurai style?

    Samurai is good.

Actually I loved Caliber. Interesting, Art looks good, Added it to my pull.
Hercules was not as good, but will still get it monthly because I like the art.
    Monthly right?
