    Default Problem with the ads

The ads have been blocking near the top part of CBR on my computer thus preventing me from clicking on the News, Community, Blogs, etc links most of the time. The ads always block the link on the thread that I am in which prevents me from clicking on it when I want to get out of a certain thread and go back to the main page.

As I write this the ads are blocking me from being able to sign in and for me to see if I have any unread PMs. Since I am automatically sign in on Internet Explorer its not a huge problem but if I use Firefox then it becomes a problem since Firefox doesn't automatically sign me in. This has been happening ever since the changes on CBR started and has been some what annoying. Any way you guys can fix this?

There seems to be some scaling issues with the new skins. That's one of the reasons why I'm using the VB default skin. Yeah, I know boring but it don't have the same scaling problems that the 2.0 skins have.

This is a know issue and is being worked on.

My best advice for now would be to extend the width of your browser window (if you can) since that is what is causing the ad drop down lower than it should.

Can you provide a screen grab? And what screen resolution are you at?

That's the problem. You'll need to be in 1024x768 mode or higher to view this site.

When we redesigned CBR, we designed it to be forward thinking. We looked at the resolutions that visited CBR and only 7% of our audience was browsing the site at less than a 1024x768 resolution. So, we've optimized the site to work best at 1024x768 or higher. Lots of sites are going that route including CNN.com, ESPN.com and many others.

Resolution does not seem to solve it for me. The banner still obstructs the links when the window is not completely maximized.

Can you provide a screen shot of the problem as well as the resolution of your monitor?

I can! I'm having the exact same problem...the banner advert at the top of the page hangs down too far and so obscures the path & links for whatever part of the forum I'm in.

I'm using Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and have my screen resolution set at 1024x768.

Here's a screen cap from my PC...

What size is that window Confessor?

It's a known issue that if the browser window is less than around 1000 pixels that error will occur, but most of the time if the window is wide enough, it will not occur.

Ahhhh...I've just realised what it is. My browser is set to 1024 pixels wide but I have a Microsoft Office shortcut bar stashed on the right hand side of my screen and that's reducing the browser width enough to produce the problem with the banners.

When I move the shortcut bar elsewhere, suddenly the ads at the top of the page are in the correct place.

OK, thanks for the help Brandon!

OK, NOW I understand, but which browser is this happening in? That we can fix, but just need that bit of info. It does not happen to me in Safari or Firefox on the Mac.

Well, I'm using Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 set at 1024x768. As noted above, I'm only getting the problem because I have my Office Tool Bar stashed on the right hand side of my screen and that's reducing the browser width to less than 1000 pixels.

So, it's not a problem with my browser per se, just a problem with how I have it set up.

I'm not sure if your comment above was applicable to me anyway though.

Those screen shots were done on a Mac with Firefox.
