"action vein is the 2008 James Bond movie Quantum of Solace,"
Or god, that was the same game?
That was a mess of a movie, almost entirely due to the director, i just didn't know who it was. How could you watch that and it's nonsensical jumping around from scene and to scene and say "Yeah, that's what i need!"

This movie is being done by Marc Forster, the same guy who did Quantum of Solace. He's done some good movie, Quantum of Solace was not one of them.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. J. Michael Straczynski is so hit and miss I wouldn't want to see him on this, sure, he could maybe do alright, but he could also do Ninja Assassin, one of thw worst movies of the 2000s. Neil Blomkamp, I could pass on him also. They should have gotten an old horror director who hasn't been given a big budget in years, someone like Tobe Hooper or George A. Romero.

Romeros last 2 zombie movies sucked balls, and one of them had a budget, he's old and has lost it, keep him the hell away.
Edit: And more importantly, World War Z had zombies, but it wasn't a horror book, that's why it was good, it did something different with the zombie story.

Yeah, Quantum of Solace showed he should stay away from action movies. But it did really well, so I'm sure he'll get hired for more.

Wasn't because it was good though, it was because Casino Royale revitalized a franchise.

    I've read World War Z, it's a horror book.

Also, Romero hasn't ever worked with the kind of budget World War Z has, his last movie with a budget still didn't have that big of a budget, most comedies have more money to do stuff than Land of the Dead did.

It has horror elements in it, it also has some humor, some non horror drama, some military and political angles, quite a few actually.
There are very few moments in that book where you are ment to be terrefied for the people in the current day, shit, they even win the end.
Every bit with the military isn't focused on the horror of fighting dead people, it's focused on the stupidity of the command structure.
All things being equal, if you replaced zombies with orcs in the movie, it's not ahorrow movie.

If you replaced the zombies with orcs it would still be a horror movie, it would just be about the horror of living in a world of orcs.

The horror elelments are the biggest part of the book, there are other elements, but a lot of horror has other elements.

J.Michael's first draft was actually outstanding and was given glowing reviews from Aint it cool news, and latino review. for a director i would have went with Paul Greengrass or Alfonso Curon.

well to be fair the Jessika Hendricks story sent a chill down my spine. so did the story about cleaning out the french catacombs. the story the organ smuggler and people smuggler told was also bone chilling

Greengrass needs to learn that not holding the camera still doesn't make things dynamic.

There's clearly alot of blame to go around though. Foster deserves some no doubt, but i can't help but think Paramount is the one that dropped the ball by rewriting the script (though i heard foster kept wanting rewrites as well), and demanding a PG-13 rating. Brad should have stuck with the first draft, and hired a better director. Max brooks should have asked to stick close to the project. I remember the 08 Comic-con and Max brooks was talking about the film with J.Michael Strazynski (and George Romero no less) and everything looked promising. And later the house cards falls down...aint that a bitch?
i'm sorry, Hannibal lecter doesn't scare me. i can easily blow his fucking brains out with my custom magnum 500 (damn i love that gun).and masturbate over his corpse too...Tish-the-Scorpion

Thing is, you want to make it like the book? Get Ken Burns. Or someone who can rip off Ken Burns.

World War Z was not a horror novel. It's hard to tell horror from the POV of an event that's already happened, when you don't have a flashlight to shine in your face around a campfire. It was faux-journalism, a fake oral history, in the Studs Terkl style. If you're doing a movie version, and following the book, you're basically intersplicing the narratives so that continuity is a bit more direct, having it narration over "found footage" or TV clips.

But I'm not sure anyone really wants that movie, either.
The Punisher: Iím going to cauterize your rectum, sealing it shut, so when you turn those delicious Pink Pantsô Fruit Pies into waste products the bilirubin in your feces will leach into your bloodstream and youíll die screaming! And Iíll watch while having sex with this grateful prostitute!

Trussed-Up Hooker: Blueberry are my favorite!

In other words, what StoneGold said.
