Ummmm...now, I'm not the sort to moan about Marvel comics usually but does anyone else think that this sounds like the crappiest, stupidest and most lame idea for a mini-series?

I think it's safe to say that I won't be picking this one up.

This could go either way. Be very bad,or good. The story could be fun. Reminds me of the neverending story some.

Wow, that sounds awesome (I actually had an idea once for a story like that, though it involved a character coming into possession of a book that was the gateway to the entirety of fiction). Cornell's Wisdom was fun, and I'm really looking forward to the new Excalibur (yes, I know it's not called that, but that's easier to type).

This kinda sounds like Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...except with the F4. Also, sounds a bit like Promethea...also an Alan Moore work. Probably more like Promethea because fiction becomes real.

All this does is make me wish Alan Moore was doing America's Best Comic's. Because nobody does Alan Moore better than Alan Moore.

The concept is just verging on plain tacky, a random story for the sake of telling a story. It could be surprisingly good, but first impressions for me aren't too good and it could quite as easily be abysmal.

I've never read any of Paul Cornell's work so It's hard for me to pass judgment but I'm obviously not overly thrilled by the idea. I would be more excited if Chris Cornell was writing it .

This sounds incredibly boring, and it reinforces why the Fantastic Four continue to lose their relevancy. And I've read the current arcs. Their Civil War plotline was boring (you mean they took different sides??? Reed might have hubris???), post-Civil War was plain awful (let's go fight a consistently boring villain in space while Ben and Johnny hang with the Black Panther a.k.a. Captain No Personality), and World's Greatest feels pulled out of well-worn territory. Next they fight skrulls and head into classic literature in a mini-series.

    Wow, riveting.

Let have Ben heading to a box social next while Reed listens to his Victrola. Yawns abound.

Cornell is a good writer so i trust him to deliver an interesting story.

However, I agree with you about the current FF.
I think one of the biggest misscues on the title is the creators ( Cornell aside)proclivity of viewing the book as more of a superhero comic than a science fiction/fantasy one.

Kirby/Lee FF had adventures all over the earth, the cosmos and beyond. Examples: The Neg zone, Ego, various other planets. Whoever is writing this title would be well served if they read scientific journals IE Scientific American/Popular Science, MIT technology to get plot ideas instead of cribbing from the flavour of the month.

The FF are science heroes not superheroes.

I do agree. The F4 are science and exploration. I understand why most comics stay somewhat static, but the F4 should always be going to new places! They shouldn't be on a 45 year old logo fighting nothing but 45 year old villains!

Having said that, I think Millar's doing it the right way.

Millar is the exception as well. His Zombieverse created a phenom. Its sad that the main book will be left out of the skrull invasion.

Cornell is the freakin man, I'm sure it's going to be brilliant. If Bryan Hitch stays on FF after Millar leaves(since I understand Millar's run will be 12 issues) I want Cornell to come in as Millar's replacement as writer on FF.

So if you were ever wondering "what would happen if someone other then Alan Moore tried to do the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", well, here you go. This is kind of mind-boggling, actually.
