I wasn't around and didn't read the older ones with Zemo, but ever since Osborn became director I've been reading it including the ongoing with Cage as head. Great team, great thing, villains trying to be heroes, you know it's going to get nasty at times at their real intentions it's always a fun book. The hit-squad Thunderbolts were great black ops from Norman, this being the only they weren't government employed, they always turn on one another and what can I say it's a hell of a book would be upset if they cancelled it I heard sales weren't going that great and this bullshit storyline about going back in time would be the storyline to do it

Thing of the naow: Please let Scott Summer die in AVX
Ghost is my favorite character on the current roster. The dude is like the team's own version of Spock. He's calm and laid back all the time. I'm glad I started reading this title last year. There are so many great things about it.
This week I've read the Ellis collection, Burning Down The House and Widowmaker. Good stuff, obviously the Ellis run was pretty amazing but Diggle did some good stuff too.
Animal Man, Batman Inc, Constantine, Earth 2, Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Justice League, Justice League Dark, JLA, Saga, Swamp Thing, Supergirl and Superman.
I finally got around to ordering the trade collecting the first issues of the Thunderbolts. I've very excited to read about my favorite team's (Sorry X-Men, I only like some of you) origins. I can't wait to read about Mach-I and Songbird. It'll also be my first time reading Zemo, who has always seemed like an iconic Marvel villain to me. The best thing is, I was able to get it for only $4. Now I can't wait for T-Bolts Classics Vol. 2 to come out.

Songbird is one of THE most reformed T-Bolts... the biggest change from the earliest issues until now is her confidence level. In the beginning, she was very timid, and often leaned heavily on male leads. Since the Ellis/Gage/Diggle issues, she has really become her own person.
I'd actually place her stepping up starting in Fab's New Thunderbolts relaunch. Between learning Abe was working with Hydra, using Nighthawk and her betrayal of Zemo at the end, you sort of see where she stepped in and took control of the team because "the guys" just weren't getting the job done.
Thunderbolts has been my favorite ongoing since around the issue #25 mark of the original run. One of the things I've enjoyed about it is the consistent way every single writer who has worked on it has brought forth scores of obscure and minor characters and thrown them into the mix as team members, allies and foes in such a way that they don't feel D-grade anymore. And they all, from Kurt and Fab to Ellis to Gage and Diggle and now to Parker, have had the ability to treat those characters with respect.
I really liked the line-up when it included Cage, Crossbones, & Juggernaut.
Under the pencil of Kev Walker, they kicked all kinds of ass!
Olivier Coipel - The best damned artist on the planet!
Shout out to Kev Walker! You're doing a hell of a job!

My favourite Thunderbolts line-up will probably always be:
So shoot me.
I'd just like everyone to know that not only am I dropping Marvel, I'm dropping this forum considering I'm not even allowed to voice a negative opinion because a thread "isn't about me".
I will agree that storywise - they were a real let-down.
I don't entirely understand why Osborn didn't use them more often instead of sending his Dark Avengers after everyone. I mean, Sentry pops up in about every book from Moon Knight to Savage She-Hulk... did Osborn just forget he had a hit squad instead of keep using his Avengers for that sort of thing?
I would've liked to see them fight the real Thunderbolts who were still about (Songbird, Atlas, Radioactive Man, MACH V) at some point... but in general I would've just liked to see the team more. They didn't really get much to do... which is a shame because the team dynamic, or lack thereof, was great.
Where the hell WAS Songbird during Siege? She should've been absolved into the Mighty Avengers or Avengers Resistance or some group after Abe saved her from Scourge and Mr X. The Avengers were down two team-mates (Herc and U.S.Agent), so there's no excuse why they couldn't've let Songbird join.
