Then I started trying to compose the rocks instead of just capturing them naturally. Sometimes I would use old bowling balls, old corrogated tin... anything with bulk and an interesting texture that was laying around.

Photoshop was used only to adjust the contrast and brightness... the white you see is illustration or poster board.

Then I started trying to build different actual pieces involving rocks in some way. This one is called simply "Rock Box" and was shown briefly in a local gallery. I still have it. I really was fascinated with the coffin-like shape of this one rock in particular, so I built a special display for it with a light hidden inside of it that gave it a little spooky glow.

Not the best photo, obviously. I used pine and walnut stain and dovetailed and glued the planks together. This was when I was naive enough to believe that quality dovetailing was possible with a $99.99 Wal-Mart tablesaw. heh. The follies of youth!

    Default Random pictures post

Ok, I will get around to updating this and the previous three posts with more pics as I upload them. Here's a photograph called "Stop". No photoshop other than brightness/contrast adjustment and color to b&w conversion. Alright I did do a paint daubs filter to try to reduce the bad pixelation. I have a color version I may upload in its place later that may be better quality. I was driving along after an ice storm one winter and just noticed this ice desparately clinging on to the post. This was the same time I was doing the levitation series! What is the levitation series? Glad you asked! I'll upload that tommorrow.

    Default Bowling Balls

    Thanks... it's a blessing, it's a curse. ;)

Here is a cluster of bowling balls I hung from the ceiling on the student art studio. I had to hang it in separate clusters and everyone was afraid to walk under it, but it was quite safe. I used industrial glue and bolts drilled and tapped into the center of each ball.

And I have another (better) photo of this I'll hang later. I ended up making like 15 or so of these. But here is the basic concept, which I plan to eventually use somewhere and develop more. It's Inverse Bowling Ball!

I used a wire armature for the fingers, which are wax. , for strength. The fingers unfortunately have some damage, but the basic concept is illustrated despite this- that a bowling ball could walk. They where cast by using dental resin (Dentalboy, help me out, what is it called? What do dentists and orthodontists use to make molds for retainers?) and plaster of paris. I made some alternate versions of the fingers out of plaster that I painted, (no pics of those) but I liked the fleshy quality the wax had.

    Default My Fans

Ok, I promised levitation, and bowling balls, I realize don't qualify. Here's the first cluster of fans I did. Did you know fans would hover if you tipped em over?

I recreated this again, refining it. I separated non-oscillating fans from oscillating fans, but also tried some mixed bouquets. Unfortunately, I have no video. I was happy with these, but likd the electric socket placement on the first sketch.

    Default Flash Cover

Hey Sparta, here's your cover! Sorry it took so long. I couldn't find the link to your original thread- could you repost that in here?

The lettering is really half-assed and so I may redo the type if you want. I would also like to add a blurb or two about the Mirror Master. I took three sketches and used some digital magic on em in Photoshop. I actually used straight pencils for the shards but I don't think I will ever try that again because I ended up going back over it in photoshop. Hope you like.

The Opening: A media blitz is overwhelming the citizens of Keystone City. Anonymous donations have been dotting local charities. But when two One Million donations are recieved by D.A.R.E. (Drug Awarness Resistance Education) and Q.L.S (Quality Living for Seniors), respectively, the media is bombarding all charities to try to find out who and why. Suddenly Federal Goverment buildings are disappearing while some are being devastated with explosive damage.

    2) The Interior: Flash is burning the streets in scarlet as he races against time to stop or slow down the devastation that is occuring. Not only are Fedral buildings taking huge damages, but various Goverment employees have been found in the streets with signs of torture and their ramblings of terror are of no help to The Flash or authorities in finding who or what is causing the chaos. Finally a break happens as every mirror in Keystone shows The Mirror Master with The Mayor in his clutches. His demands are simple. The Goverment is to surrender the cash back to the charities as they are in dire need of the funds that are given, his threat is also simple. The Mayor dies at midnight if his demands are not met and further destruction and killings will incur his wrath.

    3) The Gist: The Federal Goverment has frozen all charity accounts that have recieved anonomyous donations as this is what the law requires them to do to make sure the funds are clean. Flash once again incompasses the city but this time his goal is to glimpse every mirror he encounters. BAM! His goal is seen and in his zeal he enters the mirror to pummel the Mirror Master whom he has seen crouched outside a window gazing into an open window. But alas, (hell yeah, I said alas!) he is rendered semi-conscious as the Mirror Master was an illusion. Then suddenly, he is taking, shot after shot with a glass rod. The Mirror Master is in a rage! he is screaming and beating the heck out of Wally. Before he passes out, he hears the Mirror Master whisper above the sirens. "You Come Here Again, and You Die Pal!" As The Mirror Master departs, he deposits the mayor beside Wally and through the window we see an old woman, whose hearing has been given away to a long calender. She holds a mirror and she gazes at it lovingly. She sees her self younger, and for the first time in years, she hears her's and a small child's giggles as a younger self of her tickles a baby. Further we see the box the mirror arrived in, with a simple note, With Love, Evan.

    Done. You are welcome!

I haven't done anything with Radon Cowboy yet, but I am considering rolling him up into the continuity of the story I am working on. People seem to really respond to him! I think I will make him a golden age era hero who does something significant for modern heroes to discover. He doesn't really fit with my main story but I may be able to make it work as a brief cameo or reference.

I just can't get into X-Men. And I'm not ready to try Spidey either... so I'll probably sit out your comp but I will enjoy watching.
